He said "people don't know about black Mexicans". How is this denying his African ancestry? He identifies with his Mexican culture, but he acknowledges his blackness too. There are a lot of black or Afro Latinos. He doesn't have to say he is black or of African descent because you can clearly see it. There is clearly a distinction between the Black American culture and Afro Latino culture to the point someone might say I'm not black because the person is usually just saying I am not African American. The sad thing is us African Americans cannot even trace where we come from in our lineage because of slavery. They label us African Americans, but we never even been out the states. We do have our own sub culture as being black in America though, but Drex is first generation because his family lineage traces to Mexico. A slave ship stopped in Guerrero, so he probably cannot relate to his African roots like AA can't, but Drex has a very unique perspective. At the end of the day, to the police and white ppl, he is still another ninja. They don't care if he speaks Spanish
