I am Nigeria and I will tell you that Israel is talking a lot of bull crap. He talks like a narcissist. I understand what DDP is talking about. I am very sure Israel went to Nigeria once since he became a UFC fighter or UFC champion and his parent convinced him to go. Unlike Usman who is constantly visiting Nigeria and giving back. DDP is actually a likable guy who is very knowledgeable and very respectful to the sport and his opponents. This guy will be a great ambassador for the UFC.
Here's why I like Dricus: instead of saying he wants to change divisions and get double-champ status (like everyone else seems to do the moment they get a belt), he says he has a long way to go before becoming the greatest middleweight ever. That type of self awareness in a UFC champ is very rare.

By the certain media and individuals' logic, everyone has to say things exactly as they mean it the very first time, and if they try to correct or elaborate further on the statement, (less than 48hrs after the intial statement) it should still be descredited as false? One sentence where he didn't fully elaborate versus the last 3 press tours explaining the same points over again, and people are still holding that over him. The gent is human and people still can't let go of a half sentence that has been addressed over and over again. I am a South African myself. I've lived here my whole life. Our country prides itself on its diversity. We are referred to as the rainbow nation, and we pride ourselves on our togetherness. We have a philosophy over here that refers to this togetherness; Ubuntu. We have a lot of issues here that leads to our citizens leaving for better opportunities or an easier life. Dricus most definitely had a chance to jump ship and train anywhere else, but he chose to stay and represent his country and support our grassroots promotion. I love my country and I'm proud that someone who shares that passion and pride for this incredibly diverse and beautiful nation carries our flag with pride and the idea of people trying to descredit him as one of our own is simply disrespectful to how far our country has come in the last 3 decades.
