Round 2 is clearly Du Plessis, it was tied till the end, but the takedown gave the round to Du Plessis, easy to judge. The first and the fifth i agree with you.

I am South African, and when I first watched the fight I had it for Strickland. There are close rounds though, there is no robbery here, just difference of opinions. DDP worked more, thats what it came down to. I would like a rematch, assuming he beats Izzy. Just happy to have a South African champion, feels really good to be on the map.

Try watching it without commentary. At first I had Sean winning 48-47, but when I rewatched it without commentary, I felt dricus won r2, r3, and r4. With Sean taking the other rounds.

Vs Seans jabs only with little power and literally no takedowns is weaker. You try getting double legged into a cage or suplexed by DDP and see how you feel.

They never went any past the takedown itself and he was ~50% so some of them got stuffed. Also, go look at the official numbers before you say something dumb like jabs aren't powerful or whatever. Jabs are one of the cornerstones of any fight. By your logic, DDP's takedowns were worth about 8 significant strikes. In other words, you're trying to tell me that 6 takedowns are worth about 40 significant strikes? I don't know if you know how the scoring works but go look at the UFC's official page with this knowledge in mind, significant strikes are strikes that make the opponent visibly react, as in their head gets jarred from a punch, or it causes visible damage, like a cut or lump. You're going on about not wanting to get double legged by DDP but I'll take the 1 takedown to 8 significant strikes any day. That's how skewed those judges were.. they went ahead and recorded all the data for you then ignored it. Go look at the UFC official numbers of that fight.

DDP got our struck, got 50/50'd on takedowns and the successful takedowns were stood up immediately, no position was ever advanced and no threat of a submission was ever available. DDP also took more damage and was visibly more marked up after the fight. In a split decision fight, against an incumbent champ no less, it comes down to who did more. By the numbers Sean absolutely did more. The judges have him at 3 out of 5 rounds and arguably 4 out of 5 but he for sure did enough to win against a challenger who had less strikes thrown and less significant strikes landed.

Outside 1,2 punches which wasn't giving much effects, I saw nothing he brought.. He wasn't entertaining.. He isn't a skilled fighter.

Like I initially stated, Sean has just one style of fighting, throwing 1,2 punches, so I'm not surprised he lost it, cause his opponent uses his legs, He wrestles, we saw him do the 'turn around' elbow hits, and even bleeds Sean in round four with it.. It was a close one, but the person who puts in his all, took the day.

The takedowns matter for nothing, Sean’s ability to work back up to his feat nullify them completely because Dricus did no damage on the ground. If he ended any round on top of Sean, i would be more willing to concede. The more impactful strikes of the round were landed by Sean, as can be seen at the start of round 3 where Dricus face is busted up and he looks like sloth from the goonies, while Sean looks fresh and undamaged

Damage means literally nothing unless it interferes with the fight in some way. See GSP or Nate Diaz fights, where they bleed nearly every fight they have yet continue their dominant performances.

yes, the takedown in round 2 gave him the win in that round because neither were being to active in round 2 so Du Plessis gets the takedown wins the round, and he was also way more active in 3 and 4, gave a right hook that left strickland bleeding all over from his eye, got a couple more takedowns, easy to score, i dont know why people say robbery, im a big strickland fan also and i've watched this fight like 5 times now just to see if the judges were right, and they were, Round 1 and Round 5 are for Strickland, 2, 3 and 4 are for Du Plessis, 3-2 Du Plessis in the end.

I've never understood the mindset that the challenger has to do that much more than the guy who is supposed to be the best in the division. Definitely not. If it's this close, then they should give it to the challenger. The champ has the heavier task of proving to everyone WHY they are champion. As a champion, I would personally see it as a loss if I was awarded a win against someone who was able to match me this closely, especially if I wasn't able to put any significant pressure on them for 95% of the fight.
