Just for fun, I ut some stuff together that had one thing in common, it's all huge! In that way, this shouldn't work as a setup AT ALL. What do you guys thing?
So what I used is a set of Premier mahogany drums, that where all orphan drums, stripped down and had them repainted with this monster green finish. The COS snare is also a Premier, which is a marching snare, but works nice as a sloppy snare with that fat coated pinstripe head on it.
The hats are actually 2 UFIP ping rides that have been hammered and related on both the top and bottom and turned it into a hihat for this occasion.
The 24" Zildjian Avedis ride is one of my personal favorites. With a weight of slightly under 3kg, it's an amazing jazz ride, but works like a big explosive crash as well.
The 28" flat ride was born as a wind gong which I turned into a massive flat ride by putting in a center hole. [ SOLD ]
The 26.5" Wuhan China is just a big as china, nothing more nothing less [ SOLD ]
I kinda like fooling around on it, but at the same time I'm wondering if it be a setup I could ever bring to a gig or not. Wondering what you all think of it!

This reminds me of an old friend's dad's set. Not because it's ridiculous, but because it was vintage and about that same shade of green. He ran an independent record label/studio/record store. Kind of a jerk, but an excellent drummer. He had a gorgeous old Ludwig set that was that same color. He had a bunch of kits, kind of a collector, but that was the kit that he used for gigs. Sounded so good.

Wow! That China demands everyone’s attention every time u hit it. And here I was self-conscious about my two 18 inch crashes and 22 ride…

I'm working on putting together a similar set. 28" bass drum and 4 floor toms. small tom will be a 16x16

I like doing the opposite. A bunch of tiny toys like splashes and 6-10" concert toms and little things like that. I feel so small behind a giant kit

Love doing that as well, playing micro kits! But those I’d bring to the gig. This green monster probably won’t ever leave the shop for a gig

Once I put together a set of 20" hats using a Paiste Sound Formula Reflector Full Ride as the bottom and a Zildjian K Custom Dark Crash as the top. I made it as an experiment and just for fun, I didn't expect it to sound so good, but it did. I don't think it's practical anyway, it doesn't fit well in my set up and I'm not sure how well the hi hat stand's rod is going to cope with it in the long term. As an X-hat on my right side, though... 🤔

I’ve been using this 20” hh as a right side as well, with a bunch of bells and stuff on top of it to get a bit of a Chris Dave vibe

For the kit you mean? Most of the cymbals are sold or not for sale, but the kit is still available. Send me an email at info@driftdrums.com if you want some details on price and shipping of the kit

@@driftdrums5218 I recently got an excellent Sabian 20" vintage flat ride for €125 somewhere in the Netherlands. Excellent deal I think.
