Welcome to my first VGM arrangement of 2024!
This might be one of my favorite arrangements ever, I've had a lot of fun mixing and matching sounds and styles. Those of you who know me well enough know my arrangements can be very personal despite being covers, and I felt like this one was the perfect one to convey a message I deeply care about. Hopefully you'll get it! (There's also a little nod to another track I really like, go find it)
Other than that, my main objective was creating a bustling cityscape, with many different elements that coexist and interact with each other. I know the original Pokémon city was based around Texas, but the music really makes me think of eastern countries, especially because of those pentatonic scales! I also put a lot of effort into the graphical side of this video, both to keep it intereting in those bits where I don't play guitar and as a way to establish a specific mood.

I caught a small portion of this song in TrueGreen7's 2024 Pokémon Awards (Congratulations on winning the 2024 Cover of the Year Award, by the way!), and just from that one snippet *I WAS HOOKED INSTANTLY.* As soon as I finished watching the Awards video, I hightailed it here post haste! This was incredible, love the past / future themes mixing! You should try something like this with an Opelucid City mix (considering that city represents the past / future theme arguably more than any other city in BW)

You say that your trying to emulate a bustling cityscape, and I think you Krokor-rocked it out of the park. The scenes of Japan's really makes that cityscape palpitoad. @@TheStickCollector Oh yes, MIDI is a way to send "note data" to different instruments, software ones in my case. There's a ton of sound libraries covering virtually any instrumentation!

Thanks! It is something I've struggled with a long time, I'm mainly a guitarist but I put a lot of focus on the arrangements and I obviosly can't visually show everything that's happening - also, I don't wanna feel forced to write guitars for a section I don't think needs them. The frequency visualizer is a good way to show other instruments, so I'll probably use this idea for new videos as well!
