Oh god. I never realized how funny this shit was until after I went through it.

They were frightening in First Phase, but after 3rd Phase, Drill Instructors were some of the funniest people I’ve ever dealt with. They’d try to make you laugh and smoked you on the quarterdeck if you lost your bearing.

I remember seeing this recruit. I watched Ears Open Eyeballs Click before I joined the Corps. Looking back like wow. It was the longest 5 years of my life and now its over. And its already been a year since I been out. Time flies as you get older. For you guys in the Corps that are itching to get out, no one can stop time abd eventually you will be out...BUT.....cherish your times with the guys you serve with and stand up for yourself when need be. You are a Man before anything else. Marines don't let stupid Marines take advantage of them. But also know the difference between tradition, paying for your action and being someone elses entertainment (mainly for my 03 guys). Rah

Lmao. Something similar happened to me in boot camp. I was sweeping and my SDI came in and I reported my post saying there are no recruits on deck sir. He said what are u. I said 1 recruit on deck sir. He said who’s in the head. I said 2 recruits on deck sir. I swear after that I lived on the quarter deck

Gotta love moments like the first part of the video. After everyones kinda settled into the recruit schedule and the genuine light-hearted mistakes are free game for DI's to have "fun" with. There were many great moments like that where you couldnt laugh at or the DI has to cover their face with their campaign cover and gives you like 2 1/2 seconds to smile

I watch these and I'm almost crying now with laughter. Its been 35years since I was there in his place. 35 years since I graduated high school and left 2 weeks after graduation. As an 18 year old kid, the things I saw and heard are forever with me. Everything. Good and bad and those that go will see bad. Still memories of not laughing when someone was getting slayed. Hell, I got slayed a few times. That's what it is. Gotta say though, if the camera wasn't there, it would have been different with the recruits sweats. I can see him being made to repeatedly take off and put on his sweats. Also can see him being made to March around saying something like, "Mommy didn't teach this recruit how to dress." 🤣

Looking back at this now, we would all laugh at this, but back then, we weren't laughing. Every little thing we did was being watched, and that made it stressful in the beginning, cause we were afraid of making a mistake and getting smoked behind that mistake. For those who think they would of never made the mistakes shown here, have probably never been in these kind of stressful situations, when you never know what's going to happen next, except that of what the drill instructor tells you to do.

These three guys should go out as a comedy act. I lost it watching this. Poor recruit probably was trying so hard to put his clothes on so fast that morning that he put his pants on backwards - which probably happens more than we think in MCRD.

As entertaining as this is to watch, I feel like it's an extremely important lesson. I can picture the reporting of incorrect information to your superior officers as having catastrophic consequences in combat...DI's teach these young people how to save lives. Thank you to all marines!!!

Every American who watches videos like this where DIs put the pressure on recruits and then laugh in the comment section... that's fine and I hope these guys can laugh at themselves later too, but civilians oughta know they owe these men nothing but respect and gratitude.

I never got to serve because MEPS denied me. But when I joined the fire service my training officer was a former drill instructor and my academy pretty much went like this.
