In this episode, we show you the differences between the Milwaukee fuel hammer drill and the flex impact driver to help you decide whether an impact driver or a hammer drill is the right choice for you. The hammer drill is more versatile but the impact driver has been gaining popularity across the trades. The hammer drill will outperform most impact drivers at most tasks but can cause Cam out of your fasteners whereas an impact driver will Keep the heads nice and safe but may not be the right choice for larger tasks.

I'm over 40. I use both. I'll use a drill for some things because I have more control. If you want to do something slow, a drill is better

I do this for a living full time, I own manage, and have renovated all seven of my rental units, and JUST discovered the drill/driver. I’m never going back. I can think of maybe 5 tasks I need the impact for. One of my tenants was just asking me wether she should buy an impact driver or hammer drill and I said “buy a compact drill driver”

The Milwaukee M12 4-mode compact impact driver is an overengineered little powerhouse for all around use. It is the one tool that goes everywhere with me. It just hits different.

Love how you left the bloopers in. They happen to all of us but 99% Edit it out. Including myself 😂. I like it though. More realistic and down to earth. Great comparison on both buddy. Love it. Happy New Year My Brother 💯✊

Happy New Year. I left my errors in because I think they're funny. More people need to laugh and I play it off pretty well. Besides, should I care if people say negative things about it? No, I know what I'm doing. Let them say or do whatever they like.

nice comparison, i live were screws, nut and bolts get rusty and impacts help remove with alot less effort. always nice to have both impact and drills.

I use both but if it's not a torx square drive screw I'll use a drill because I can drive and remove a lot of Phillips screws with a drill and not strip 1 but everytime an impact hammers the Phillips is camed out. Probably operator error. Back when the impact drivers were first released in the nicad days all the sales pitch was can drive any screw without caming or predrilling holes. That of course was also when pushing the newest greatest screw technology called the combo head which was a combination Phillips and square drive.

Drills are better overall. The impact is just so compact and convenient

Want to take the ole worn off rubber paddle from the Toro snow blower by taking off those rusted fasteners? Impact driver. Want to remove rusted bolts covering the air conditioner capacitor cover? Impact driver. Remove a rusted in spark plug from the Stihl chain saw? Impact driver. Plus all other chores the man just showed you can all be accomplished with an impact driver. IMO that's the first tool. The second in driving is a hammer drill as you will need it for our good ole friend the Tapcon! Standard drill drivers have no value in my tool kit. Cheers!

When I was younger and just starting out I loved the impact and thought it sounded cool. But as I got older I like how quiet drills were. They’re what I use for most things now. The only job I go to the impact for first is if I have a lot of fasteners to loosen. I’ve never had an impact throw a bit like a drill when loosening tons of screws

When I got a combo kit with an impact driver to replace an old drill I had, I thought the impact driver was just a modern cordless version of a drywall 🔫. Didn't know you could drill with it. Like that it had the clutch so it wouldn't destroy the Phillips screws like a drill can.
@ToolswithSoAlz
@ToolswithSoAlz Год назад
Back in the day there was no clutch. Just a trigger and a dream. That's how I learned. Impact drivers make everything so easy but they come with sacrifices; like your hearing

I have an old corded Milwaukee drywall 🔫 That thing had a clutch. I used it to make a halfpipe. I put hundreds of drywall screws onto the sheathing with it.

If you're on a ladder up high the impact driver is your best friend. Get caught with a drill up there and you will be tasting concrete or whatever is underneath you.... I agree with the power of these drills now it is a faster way to drive lags without that loud impact driver but in you have to use the rite tool for the task at hand 👌

If you have one job to do, then yes, I can see using one tool over the other. However, if you have both tools on a jobsite that benefit you, then you will be doubling your value to your bank account and your customer's bank account. Use the impact to hang metal studs/walls, leave the drill for everything else. Less tool change is key in my book.

Keep useing your drill driver until it knocks you off of your ladder and or your wrist and elbow joints give out.This mentality is why so many construction workers are on disability at age 46.I was driving lag bolts back in the eighties with an air impact . The construction workers were astouunded . A drill driver still has its place, but it is the last resort. If your cordless 1/4 hex impact wont cut it, step up to a cordless 3/8 square drive impact. Use your BRAIN instead of your body.

I know you can drill with a impact driver I much rather use a drill especially in metal the hammer in a impact beats the drill bit up faster and usually don’t make as smooth of a hole! Many may argue . A impact driver is not for drilling!
