It's been a long time since I've heard spouge. Now a days, the air waves are just bombarded with bands with a lot of sequencers. Keep up the good work. Peace.
@musician4000"... count cow"? That's hilarious! From the time this song was released way back when, there has always been lots of discussion about what the lyrics really state. I'd like to know myself. Moreover, what do the lyrics _mean_? I must have heard this song hundreds of times and I'm still in the dark. Guess I'll google it in my "spare time", if there's such a thing.
+Wayne Phillips Essentially the lyrics are "Yuh come here fuh drink milk? Or yuh come here fuh count cow?" It is a saying which means "You come here to waste time or you come to work?"
+nisa smith Ah yes! When I saw Rommel Hall's reply, I thought the drinking milk part was about wasting time while the counting of cows was about getting down to business. It's really the opposite. Also, upon "googling" *drink milk or count cows* I discovered that it's a Jamaican proverb (which explains why the first part of your reply is in Jamaican!). I always thought that whatever it was the Draytons Two were singing, it was a Bajan saying.
Actually it was the opposite. Jackie Opel spent some years in Jamaica performing with Byron Lee in the early 60's when Ska started to become very popular. He returned to Barbados and created Spouge, which is said to contain elements of Ska, Calypso and R&B.
