I am a christian and I totally agree with this song because I think that it is a commentary on how we shouldn't fixate on things that can mean one thing in one situation and another thing in another situation. And we need to evaluate new situations again instead of taking our solution from the last time. This is why the Bible says check everything and keep the good things.

Keep justifying your faith, especially in the comments section. And a century from now, your faith will have yet another entire new set of justifications to make. Begs the question, why keep it alive? To satisfy your need for existential comfort in organized religious practice? Hmm. As somebody who doesn't presume to know things far outside humanity's capability of understanding, this is aggravating. This is the case with any other fabricated Christian justification in an attempt to absolve themselves of any responsibility. People don't make new interpretations of slavery in an attempt to absolve themselves of its past injustices, they understand that any perpetuation of such an idea that has spurred countless wars and deaths in the name of whatever faith is still keeping that injustice alive, and furthermore speaks to the weakness of such a mentality. Take responsibility. Drop the faith. There are innumerable ways to find that same comfort and sanctity without following the blood soaked Christian faith. You're only lucky education and science has taught you basic concepts such as empathy and kindness. Otherwise, the Christian faith would be starkly similar to interpretations of Islam and the extremism that arises from those interpretations in the Middle East and elsewhere. I could go on, but the current conflict between Israel and Palestinian resistance (which has already claimed a ridiculous number of innocent lives, children included) does any further explaining for me. All in the name of God, am I right? But hey, at least you're not scared of death anymore! That makes it all worth it:)

@@IgnobleLoki I don't think you understand the true Nature of faith. firstly organized Religion ist aImost always a bad idea. The true idea of Christianity is that you devellop a personal relationship to Christ not to be part of an organisation that tells you what to do. Also I don't think you know that in order to follow Christ you need to take full responsibility of your sins and wrongdoings first so that you can let Jesus take them from you. In my opinion there is no stronger form of responsibility. But I have a question for you: You assumed that science tought me kindness und empathy. How do you think that would work? In science there is nothing umpathetic. Science relies only on facts and observations and Maths. There is no spark of emotion in that. That is in strong difference to God who is according to the Bible and my experience the embodyment of Love.

Undertaker, marker of death, untouched by the sicknesses of the mind that plagues ours, a man without faith for he has no need of the name of the lord, a man who’s company is of crows and scavengers. Well at least he is manifestation of death maybe not death himself but a Psychopomp This is probably what The Undertaker is. He is not The Grim Reaper, as he is not the bringer of death himself. @@Ragnarrawhat most interesting to me is that he literally ran towards a symbol of death implying that he feel safer with a symbol of death protecting him acknowledging that he is simply a angel of gods so he isn't evil he simply helping god carrying souls to their respective afterlife since he is stating to drag any poor souls back to hell and drinking from any cup poured implying he is one of those responsible for helping gods torture sinners and demons since hell isn't really ruled by satan since Satan is very much prisoners just like everyone elses god rules over heaven and hell the Satan only really rules earth anyway it's interesting how he ran to a symbol of death even if he isn't death itself he is still very much tied to death.

I feel that the one legged man was the only one closer to god than anyone else in that town. He knew the truth, he knew the priest was a man of lies, but sadly the townsfolk was fooled by the wolf in sheeps clothing. You don't need to accept god from words or just because someone said you should. You need to find god on your own. You need to beleive for yourself.

The full animation gets at that. Before the killing starts, the priest pulls a gun out of his hollowed bible. He doesn't have any of the pages, yet he preaches it, but harbors a weapon in it. The symbolism is 10/10

i'm a christian baptist and this son hit me hard, almost every church I've gone to was corrupt in my eyes. i just leave each time but now i'm done i just read the word and pray at home. the churches preach to love all but then spit out guttural words of hate at those who do not agree with them , and i hate it, i wish to only show love and understanding. we sin too and everyone knows and yet those churches attack them. lets just have peace, please and even if your atheist , pagan , or any other religion other than christian i wish you a good and blessed day.

justin Fitzsimmons Nobody has the clear answer so I think it's wrong to say "for sure" that his religion is just an illusion. I think atheism (where you insist there is no god or spirits or any kind of supernatural power) should be considered a religion as well, cause nobody have truly disproved the existence of god for example. I'm personally a agnostic and stands for the fact that nobody knows for sure, and we should respect all religions (but not extremism or harmful actions based on religion). There may be a god, there may be good spirits or demons, there may be many gods or no god at all... Maybe something that stands in the bible is right and maybe its not, but most of it is insecure.

What is heart wrenching ...is the fact that this video was directly created to a score written by the band Sons of Perdition whom is a co-creator. That credit has been scrubbed in this case. I know that the band as well as the visual creator do not approve of this interpretation.

Kenneth Absolutely relevant! The creator's opinion sure as shit matters ...from a legal perspective. Full credit is not given to all the creators nor is it "fair use". The only reason it exists online...at all...is the legal authors of this work don't want to be heavy handed on the matter...but they could be if they so chose to. Further....the original is far superior on all levels. So, thats why you are utterly wrong.

Humans are naturally evil" like a cynical Bible thumping preacher who believes we are all doomed to hell unless we live very strict ways of life based on fundamentalist beliefs. To also say that all of humanity is naturally good, peaceful and kind and religion is to blame for all of the world's problems... I'm sorry to say this but that is an extremely naive way of thinking at best. Human nature can be both good and bad and both has nothing to do with religion. Besides, think of it this way: If religions and theistic ideals are entirely man made and have never been based off of something and yet religion is the cause of all of humanities problems, then isn't still humanity's fault for not only believing but also creating these ideas that have supposedly corrupted them so much?

This animation isn't about just religion, but about leaders in general, if not just people. Religion isn't the only force that leads people mind you. Look at the Soviet Union, Nazi Germany, modern day America...two through force and one through the media. All of them, and this animation, are rallying the people against one common "enemy," whether the Capitalist, the Jewish, everyone...or merely a man playing the guitar. They do this through fear, and they use fear to promote their power. The German people followed Hitler because they were broken, a mere shell of themselves. The Russians were under the boot of the wealthy, and Lenin and the Communist Party used this to rally the people. The American people are scared of...everything. Terrorist, Muslims, Blacks, Whites, Illegal Immigrants, Deportation, Climate Change, Democrats, Republicans, Conservatives, Liberals, Evolution, Creationism, Feminism, Misogyny, and most of all, being educated. Religion isn't the only leader in this world, children. Do not think even that those of you who know the government is corrupt, aren't still being controlled by them. You are, and you shall be, for the only guarantees in this world are death...and taxes.

the idea behind it focuses on all leaders yes, but the lyrics are talking about religion and how every religion believes that unless you follow them you are damned. The short film the Back Water Gospel (which is used in this video) is a perfect example of this. People follow religion in fear of death and for hopes of a life here after, and when death came knocking on their door, they blamed the one non religious man in the town. They killed the man in cold blood then turned on each other when death didn't leave. Slaughtering everyone because they don't want to be the ones to die. This is a very good example about how death doesn't care what religion you are, when you die, you are dead. We're all the same once we're in the ground.

I've watched the animation, and I've listened to the lyrics. However, it is just like We the Living by Ayn Rand. The Italians were loving it for a while because they saw it for face value: A book about a girl suffering in Soviet Russia and going against the Communist regime. However, the people saw it as a book that was against tyranny of all sorts, including fascism. This song and animation, too, can be seen for face value, which would make both of them anti-religion in showing that religion is an evil thing (not Buddhism, but everyone seems to forget the extremely peaceful religions of Buddhism, Shintoism, and Rastafaria), or you can look a bit deeper, and find that you can apply both the animation and song to leadership and people in general, and not just those that follow a religion. I myself am a Catholic, though genuinely believe that all three Abrahamic religions are exactly the same, and that they shouldn't be fighting like a bunch of nitwits. I also believe that Buddhist-Shinto or just straight Buddhism or Shintoism is probably the most peaceful religion. Of course, I could be wrong, but from what I've seen from visiting my family in Thailand, Buddhism is very much a kind and peaceful religion. Then again, all religions are at heart. It is man that changes that, twisting the true meaning of their religion for their own gain. Not that all religious leaders do so, but there will always be that one that brings about Zionism, or Jihad, or Zealotry. That is when problems arise. Religion on its own is a very much peaceful and enjoyable thing.

why must people pretend that human nature is pure? you see people always saying, "be a good person" or "be nice", yet human nature is extremely cruel and violent. we want bloodshed so we hide it in justice, and pretend it's no longer there. zpardus this is perfect. What I think needs to be kept in mind is, the man without faith was killed, even crucified. Doesn't matter whether you have faith or not. We all die one way or another. But. If you have faith, keep your head on a swivel. The lyrics match the video well "it's not the devil if there's no fire in his eyes, it's not the spirit if it doesn't speak im tongue." The spirit of death will present itself as a spirit of life to fool those who believe they see such light, and the proceed to rip the people apart from the inside using the mere skill of manipulation. It's a very dark, dark thing. So have faith, but stay sober and vigilant, because you might not know what's actually in front of you.
