40% of cancer cases are related to Tobacco - either smoking or chewing. Doctors from every Cancer Research Center are demanding for tobacco ban. But very few politicians are supporting it. Actually there should be total ban on tobacco production as well as consumption. Arnab, please take this point for discussion.

The Indian government has better things to worry about. All the decisions are so desperate and situational that the bigger picture is missed out. These kinds of law, practically wont stop anyone from doing it, rather will give rise to a bigger black market/mafia for peddling and selling liquor.

Education and corruption is to be blamed for that. But if govt failed in uplifting the state, why a common man should spend 10 years in prison for that ? He paid his taxes all the time. And stop seeing in black and white, there are moderate drinkers also who drinks once a week. No research paper will show if alcohol taken in moderation is injurious to health. Infact, Indian army and other armies around the world drinks at will.

This is the problem with all laws. They don't think through all consequences. Anyone misusing the law can get away easily. How do you stop someone from causing trouble to a family by putting a liquor bottle in their house and call the police? Will they now ban all medicines that contain alcohol? Why don't Bihar have a law where the drunkard will be arrested if the family makes a complaint instead of arresting everyone around a liquor bottle. This will do a lot of good to the society and the family than a complete ban.

Instead of applauding Nitish Kumar for boldly bringing in prohibition in a funds starved state, Arnab is ridiculing about toddy. Nitish may slowly prohibit toddy also. People have got to be taught about the detriment of liquor. It needs time. It was a serious subject for discussion with sober intellectuals in the panel. But it was amazing to see the comedians also in the panel who proved their profession with their giggle and chuckle throughout the programme. It was obvious that they are habituated drunkards from the the way they were sipping water at frequent intervals even before they opened their mouth to babble and gabble their views. A serious discussion devastated by buffoonery.
