Setting up irrigation for my garden has been a game changer. I feel like I went from being a so-so gardener to an awesome gardener almost overnight ( If I may say so myself)
One of the most important lessons I learned in my master gardener class was that most of the nutrients that your plants need are already in your soil. They just need to be mobilized and made available by the soil microorganisms. And water is essential in the soil for the little creatures to do their magic!

We are about to buy and add irrigation this year because watering by hand is insanely time consuming and I'm over it lol. This video is exactly what I needed to see because we are likely going to buy it either this weekend or next. Highly recommend adding a filter to your spout that reduces chlorine and chloramine. I was shocked at how much improvement I got from this one item. My plants showed improvement within 4-7 days and nothing else was changed/added during the first two weeks of use. The two filters I've had success with are Boogie Blue Plus (by Boogie Brew) and Camco HydroLife 52700. This year, to improve the life of the filters, we also added a sediment filter that can be dumped and rinsed as you notice it getting build up. I even gave these as gifts to my parents (whom have even more chlorine and harder water) for their garden and they have seen a big improvement. I now tell everyone using hard it city water about the use of filters because it's had the bigges "bang for your buck" than any amendment I've used....plus, if you make compost teas, there is no 24 hour wait period needed when filling the bucket.

I am so intimidated by irrigation systems. Your video made it much more understandable. I had hoped to set it up this year, but, have decided on a splitter to have 2 hoses for this year. Hopefully next year I will get it together. Thanks for sharing!

So glad you found it helpful! Putting in irrigation has been transformative for my garden, especially with my hot dry California summers. I waited too many years because I thought it was too much work. But now I know it's not that hard...so I want others to feel confident as well. Have a lovely gardening season!

@@GreenLove1 I'm in Nor Cal 9B. I'm gardening in raised garden beds, stock tanks, totes, bags, and pots. I can't quite wrap my head around how to do it all. Your video did help. Cheers!
