I had a cousin who passed away from a fentanyl overdose... A week after his passing I heard this song and bawled my eyes out.. I can not help, but think of him every time I hear this song... RIP Bradley you will always be missed ... Always ask how people are doing because you never know the demons they are dealing with
Jeez O Pete. As of Tuesday this week, I am trying to give up drinking cold turkey after 28 years and I was reading some words of encouragement from a friend online and I have this empty six pack of Heinkens, the 0 ones and I was letting RU-vid pick the songs and this one came on pretty early in my night (about quarter past ten on a Friday). It's hard cause the smoking has to go same time. I have lots of time to study the walls but this song did make me shiver a bit. Sometimes the Drive-By-Truckers' lyrics can devastate but sometimes I just listen for that great soft guitar part to come in for a harmony. Both are great for the soul. But it's now about twenty after 10 and I have a new bedtime now. Hopefully forever. Hopefully not forever.
Man, I feel that. I had to sober up in jail, cold turkey with a broken arm after a car crash. I drank for 15 yrs. Yesterday was my 5 yr sober mark (Feb 20th). I used to drink a lot when I listened to DBT. When I sobered up, the songs still made sense, but in a different light. This band really got me through a lot of tough times tho. Even had the pleasure of meeting everyone in the band (Minus the new bass player). Anyhoo, I hope you can find comfort in the fact that it really does get easier. Even if booze was a big part of your personality/character before. You'll come to love your sober sense of self. Much love
Ok, as a longterm fan that owns all the CD's. This sounds way more like real DBT! Not the BS you guys put out as the single for this album. Stay based guys
