Hi Chris. Yes the poor shaft has had a strenuous life. Lets hope the replacement get some love at some point. The sheet is left over 16ga aluminum from printer tray project (check FB for pics) a couple weeks ago. Rods were Lincoln 7018 AC.
Hi Colin! It's nice to see a video from you again. Thanks. Great video, lots of info. If the shaft needed to be lengthened, which side would have gotten the section added?
Hi Rolando. The length I referred to would only be the width of the grooving tool used to find the split line. Easily made up for by welding once the shaft was pressed together. Thanks for stopping in. :-)
But, so was I.... it's been a while ya know.. :-) The client was well aware of possible balance issues. Got it as measurably close as possible despite the condition of the hardware. Havent checked in to see how it ran yet but will in time.
Hey buddy! It has indeed been a while. We should talk more. That was a get it done job....truck stuck and NEEDS to move. Quite obviously greased to death and faces a hard life..LOL
Buzzards circling the shop waiting for a meal.... Still kickin though. Gonna be in town late march..try and swing by if we get time.. Let ya know.. :-)
Thanks for sharing and posting. I see myself in your line of work. small jobbers and no routine work. Variety makes you so more knowledgeable in the long run. Keep up the good work Colin!
Thanks Pierre. I do enjoy the random repair jobs that come in the shop. I once had a lady bring me a glass mixer bowl that had a threaded on plastic base but it didn't fit her machine. I made her a new ring cut to match her other bowls and threaded to the glass bottom. :-)
