My hometown I was born and raised in Helena lived on Ohio Street, graduated from Central high in 87. I left Helena three weeks after I graduated and went to live in Michigan for 10 years and then I left Michigan and moved to Phoenix, stayed in Phoenix for about 10 years and now I live in California. I took a job that allowed me to travel that's why I lived in different states. Great video I really enjoyed it got to see what it looks like now haven't been there since my parents passed away. I see enjoy the great memories of growing up in Helena.
Ok 👍🏾 I’m glad I could get some footage of it for u, n I grew up not far from Helena right across the bridge in Dundee Mississippi, so we would always go shopping over there, n you have been traveling a lot just like me lol … when I go back home I’m going to make sure I go by your high school n thank you so much for watching 👍🏾
@@GettingLostWithToy You're welcome. My parents would always go shopping in Mississippi and Memphis, I use to think that Memphis was a big city. It was compared to Helena West Helena, Helena was a booming town in its hay days there was no empty store fronts in Helena that I can remember. I could walk from my house on Ohio Street and go shopping on Cherry Street. I been thinking about planning a trip to Helena so I can tour some those historic houses.
I know that’s right n yes it’s a lot of history there for sure n Memphis sure is not as big as we thought it was when we were little lol 😆 n it’s some very beautiful houses in Helena
Thank you so much for this great video. From the relaxing music and the relaxing atmosphere I love every moment of it. I was born and raised in Helena-West Helena from 1993 -2016. This took me through memory lane and I see a lot still looks the same but a lot has also changed. I miss the old days where it was actually safe to go outside and hang with friends from other blocks. Now I’m just rambling but I plan on sharing a bit of Helena-West Helena when my baby is a bit bigger. 😂Thank you again for this great video. 🥹
Oh that’s cool .. n u are very welcome my luv glad u enjoyed I was born and raised 15 minutes across the bridge Dundee Mississippi n yes we use to hang in Helana back in the day things has changed a bit but it’s still as beautiful as it was then n I always visit when I go home you’re absolutely welcome again ❤️
the delta town of my Birth. I moved to California in 1986. I came home to visit family in 2018 I was saddened by Helena's dramatic decline. I have 2 young children California born but Roots in Helena i plan on bringing them to my childhood community to connect with Family. I still have family and they are hanging on Strong.💖
Wow!! That’s really nice to hear I have a friend from Helana and she also lives in California … I grew up just across the bridge in Dundee Mississippi so I know exactly what you mean and I’m glad your family is doing well ❤️
One of the worse cities to live in the USA… some surveys rank it number 1 in violent crime per capita ….. but sets on one of the most beautiful spots on the Missippippi …. Lots of wonderful culture as well… turned out many famous musicians. Too bad it’s turned out this way…😢. Thanks for posting…. Brings back many memories- both good and bad.
I totally agree with you on the crime it has gotten a lot better than some years ago but yes it’s still rough n my uncle was a famous musician he lived just as u cross over the Mississippi bridge from west Helena into Mississippi town called Lula Mississippi his name is Sam Carr u definitely should check him out his band members name was Frank Frost n the Mississippi jukes they have music here on RU-vid I think you’ll enjoy it ❤️ thank u so much for watching I’m from Dundee Mississippi born and raised and no doubt it’s some beautiful country side around those parts ❤️
I will Glo we made it safe getting ready to go to St Louis at 4am n I’m so sorry I didn’t get to see y’all we was rushing but we’ll be back in May for rootie graduation 🧑🎓

That’s what’s up I was born and raised right across the bridge in Dundee Mississippi I have great memories of Helena it was a big part of my childhood ❤️ thank u for watching
@pocketslife8963 I lived in Lula, Ms. If you turn at the bull, I lived in a house down that dirt road. Basically on the levee. My grandparents lived in Helena back behind the culture center way back there on the ridge. So I got to go to school in Helena.
@@kimberlycanales916 wow! I know exactly where u taking about both places my uncle lived right across from you in that old green and white house they tore it down some years ago his name was Sam Carr he was a blues artist he’s got a lot of music here on RU-vid u should definitely check him out he’s passed on now but he did a lot of touring when he was alive also his wife use to sing backup for Tina Turner she passed 6 months after him I think it broke her heart and she couldn’t live without him I also have a few childhood friends that lived there on Fudge Road it’s close by also
@pocketslife8963 I used to play with two sisters that lived in that house around 1981-1982. The river would flood between our houses, and we could catch the fish with a fishing net and sell them to the fish market in Helena.
I’m trying to tell ya that is still my spot when I go home I gotta go get me a cheeseburger extra onion fries and the best coke in town 😝 sho u right ❤️
