Ed Solomons and Yuri Janssen head up to Gleneagles’ natural moorland range to discuss the fundamental safety considerations of grouse shooting and how an experienced shot can shoot grouse more instinctively.
Schöffel Country
Designed and engineered around the same guiding principles upon which the Schöffel Country brand was built - namely quality, durability, attention to detail and, most importantly, technical performance in the field - we are confident that this product range will continue to do what we have always strived for: to enhance your experience in the field and, from now on, on the water, too.
For 28 years, we have prided ourselves at Schöffel Country for designing and manufacturing the finest game shooting and country clothing that money can buy. And over the years, we have repeatedly been asked by our customers to produce a range of fly fishing clothing to match the quality, design and standards that we set with the inception of the Ptarmigan Shooting Coat range in 1994. Well, 28 years on, we believe we have done just that.
As a specialist brand Schöffel Country focuses on the latest fabrics and techniques to produce superb clothing which is lightweight, technical, comfortable and specifically designed with the discerning country customer in mind.

Gleneagles, wow! I was there a few years ago and don't recall the covered walkways. Yuri's a good shooter and Ed's a good instructor, phenomenal course!

Great instruction - would love to be able to do grouse as it's on the bucket list and suits my style of shooting a bit better than pheasant. I particularly liked how you went through what should be common sense on the safety aspect first - you don't want to shoot the flankers, beaters, or the fellow guns or their loaders after all - moving the sticks seems more obvious now than it did

Be interested to look at more budget friendly ways to get shooting days in, simulated days or rough gunning. Places like this are over £30 a bird and 500 bird days are something I can do maybe once a year while earning slightly above national average wage, I expect a lot of people can't attend shoots at all and have to just go to clubs or shoot over private land.

it might sound bad but i find grouse drives on a sim day very easy the only time it gets interesting is when you shoot them close in or 5 pegs down very boring and predictable targets a instructor said to me there is no real way to truly simulate grouse with clays !
