🇵🇷 Good for DTOP to finally address this with the US Department of Homeland Security. I will leave that the issues here had everything to do with lack of knowledge and zero to do with discrimination. It just seems so out of the ordinary for a place as culturally distinct as Puerto Rico has been blessed to be and will probably always be, the fact that it is actually part of the US AA is something of a mind below because it has such a wonderfully distinct language land and culture. My only personal great with this particular piece was the fact that the spokes person from DTOP did not have her name and title listed onscreen. What is up with THAT??? No gusto. 🥀
That's because we are not important to them. The reporters "Reporting" on the issue have the same mind set as the lady and the police officer at Hertz, Airline in California, and the Super market clerk. If the USA continue teaching "His-story" we are going to continue to have these issue. I experienced this at a Mexico-US Border, by a Mexican American Border Agent. He was being annoying at the end I told him I am was more American (USA) then he was... and educated him about the status of Puerto Ricans born on the island or Mainland USA.
It's not lack of knowledge it's lack of "Education" and the teaching of "His-story". As educated as Americans want to think about themselves and its education system we are still dumb. It amazes me when I have an encounter with a so called a "Highly Educated" person but something stupid comes out of their mouths. Especially when the want to give their "Educated" opinion on other coulture.
