As I'm still waiting for my new PC to arrive I thought I'd upload some more nostalgic gameplays whilst I wait. This time being Driver: Parallel Lines. So many fond memories just driving around the map getting into cop chases and exploring the large open-world New York...definitely some of the best cop chases to be had in gaming at the time too. Hopefully this video shows why I love this game so much!
I remember it doing quite well at the time, even got high-praise in the Official Xbox Magazine. I guess it came out with too many open-world competitors that year. (Scarface, The Godfather and Vice City Stories).
There’s even a bodysnatcher cheat code you unlock for driving a certain mileage that lets you take over their character model after doing one of those takedowns
We can all argue that Reflections began copying Rockstar in their approach to this type of sandbox game, but remember that GTA was originally top down and the team at Reflections had the foresight to create Driver and this type of game first.
such a stupid take lol, making a game in 3rd person view wasn't something new its nit like r* never thought of it before driver 1, gta always had a formula, also r* created a game called "body harvest" way before driver 1 which is a 3rd person view game where you can shoot enemies, walk around and drive tanks and fly helicopter
Remember played this game a lot at my childhood. After completed the story, I started collecting all cars and bike in this game. Try to customized too hahahha
You got rid of the PS2 camera when you went back to play this. I played PL on my PC years ago and it wasn't that anything out of ordinary until I watched a few videos of the PS2 version. I've come to the conclusion that you have a bit more space for checking your surroundings on the PS2.
The music and driving, story, are interesting. I like it. However, I hate they downgraded from 3's sensational crashes and gravity, to way too heavy, heavy gravity that makes cars sink like rocks, it's sad
I feel the crashes are just as impactful in this as they are in Driv3r. In my opinion the driving is at it's best in this game, though cars have more weight in Driv3r which some might prefer.
They just aren't good as 3's. The weight to the cars in crashing is what made it realistic, but this game just feels way too heavy, especially going off jumps, and also, why is it when you hit pedestrians you lose speed?
Cool game, played it a lot but it works very badly on modern OS, and also the open world need some work on it, to be done. Cause it looks like a box with buildings and no details.
