Some cities will do that. But it is a slippery legal slope they play with. I myself a few times have forgot to put my placard up ( you are not suppose to drive with them hanging from the mirror anyways) and yes once i came out to an officer writing me a ticket. I was nice I asked what he was doing he told me I looked and went "oops " and i asked if i could grab it as it was in the visor. Once he saw i had it and that i also had my placard ID card for it he of course read me the riot act threaten to have me towed all that bullship. Well as he was rambling on and on my friend finally caught up with me and he was not to pleased with the officer and read him the riot act. My friend at the time was the city attorney and prosecutor so you can figure out how well that went for that young officer.
One of our judges was in a wheel chair. If there was an illegal car parked in a handicapped spot he'd just park behind them, then go shopping, and then return to his car. The driver of the car would be mad at the person parking behind them and blocking them in. He'd take his time loading up his car before moving (this was before cell phones). He'd always introduce himself to the driver,,,,, Hi I'm Judge XXXXX. For some reason he'd never get yelled at.
There was some guy in another video who said his placard allows him to park in any disabled parking spot, whether it's in a private lot or not. He said that he can even take the bus out of the city.
...their not bad people, is such a ridiculous statement. These self entitled, miserable pricks are DELIBERATELY taking advantage of those convenient parking spaces, (designed for the use of the most desperate and vulnerable people in society,) and abusing the system because they think they are untouchable and better than everybody else. Fine them the maximum possible and also add points to their driving record... they should lose their right drive on the roads for a month too, then maybe they will learn to respect others!
These violators are a disgrace. As a disabled UK resident who regularly visits the USA I thank you for allowing and respecting my UK disabled permit I show whilst visiting your wonderful country.
Hey! Give that man a radio! That is ridiculous. That is a job where you don't have to worry about job security. Placard cheats never give up. They just don't care. I remember when Stanley did a piece on Handicap Parking @ the SF Giants ball park, the fines were $800-$1000. And that was years ago.
All disabled folks who drive should be given disabled license plates. Park in disabled spot without plates, then no question that they shouldn't be there. Immediate tow.
I wish Michigan had more people doing this!! Once in awhile I might see a PACE car, but not often enough!! It's all I can do to get from my house to my car, let alone having to park a mile away from the stores!
If these thieves would think about how hard the lives of the handicapped are every single day, and what some have to go through to even get ready to go out or to work or shopping...then to have to deal with no open handicapped spaces, or the stripped areas taken with cars or shopping carts that they need to be able to get in and out of their handicapped vans...maybe the thieves would think twice.
Every major parking area with plenty of handicap parking should post a sign stating handicap cars and placards are being videoed for proper use and no cheaters. State the amount the fines will be with out of date placard and $500 bucks for altered placards. Have the city or cities actually video these handicap parking spots at different times and different parking lots. The idea make it to risky for some pig cheating parking hog not to take the chance.
In our house we have a boy in a wheel chair. His mother needs the parking space, just in front of the door. Ever so often some jerk sees the free space...and parks there. The other residents have now com up with a way of dealing with that: We park our cars right behind, effectively boxing them in....and THEN we call the police. The cops take great pleasure in helping us - and writing out the 260 euro fine.
@@SaltiDawg2008 You surely never travelled. In Europe, you can apply for a PRIVATE parking space, in front of your house. The technical term is "personengebundenen Behindertenparkplatz". Try googling.
@@mochtegerndane7097 not all of Europe, in the UK the on road disabled spaces aren’t designated, even if put in outside someone’s house. Anyone with a badge can use it.

You'd think that with the amount of the fine, they could give enforcement a better way of checking tags. Perhaps the tags should have RFID so they can be read automatically.
Glad to see Stanley landing on his feet, and we do miss him in the Bay Area. His episodes were great, especially the ones dealing with parking placard abuse....
humans are scumbags when caring for their fellow species - the old saying prevails "i'm ok jack". When it comes to animals, using a K9 (dog species) as example, it is very rare they will desert another dog one might encounter in dire circumstances, a true example of kinship and caring.
I wish we had more concerns regarding people using handicap parking even though they aren't. They deserve hefty fines. I'm disabled. I have Multiple Sclerosis etc. I cannot walk well and I use forearm crutch. People are completely inconsiderate.
@@video198712 it just makes me annoyed that individuals could care less. They have no empathy for those of us who struggle to walk as long as they can make it easier on themselves. It's sad.
have u never forgotten to renew ur placard ? or just gotten too lazy to go hit up the dmv for hours to replace a placard for a PERMANENT disability every 2 dam years ? i don’t think altering placards is that big of a problem to warrant this, and who cares if it’s expired if the disability is permanent? y’all white folks just love callin the cops on anyone, even yo own ppl, and it’s sad
@@nexusjayis oh wow. Someone just wants to be argumentative huh? "YALL WHITE FOLKS" LMBO. Im the wrong person that's going to have words with you. I hope you have a blessed day. This White person isn't going to go back and forth with you
I remember the very first time I saw some inconsiderate imbecile park in a handicap spot... It was raining, and the guy pulls in, parks and runs into the store...About the same time, a car with a handicap plate cruises by but has to park in a regular spot some thirty or so yards away...I watched as the man struggled with a small, collapsible wheelchair, settled into it and rolled himself into the store through the poring down rain... Now, whenever I see an unauthorized vehicle in a handicap spot...well...all I can say is, "Uh, oh, better get Maaco!" I have keys and I'm not afraid to use them!
OICU812 Well considering there’s cameras everywhere you probably should be afraid of getting caught. Also, taking your anger out on another persons property is cowardly.
Jessie James Sure they can be used for that, but it’s certainly not the only use. Also, they never mentioned that the person they were talking about had a placard.
It happens every day! Not to mention the jerks who never had one! As someone in a wheelchair who hast have help to even get my chair out thus is very upsetting! Especially at wal-mart where the handicapped parking is always full & if not they have no carts! Good job! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
As someone who has a handicapped placard, and using it honestly it is so frustrating to see people without proper ID taking up the spots for those of us that need them!
State trooper pulled up to one in Forida, him and his dog got out, I commended the state of Florida for hiring the handicapped, and was that his seeing eye dog, he didn't see the humour but parked there anyway.
@@anngarrett5717 yeah because grandma needs to be fined if she gets her plate stolen that will teach the bitch.... >.> if you can't tell I'm calling you a fucking morn.
My ex had a friend with a placard for himself. He and his wife would park in the handicapped space; he would stay in the vehicle while she was in the store. The only issue she had was being a drunk who permanently lost her driver's license. Whenever i would mention their setup to them they would become very defensive and incensed. They are users and abusers to this day.
people also need to realize if the look at the paper work that comes with the placard it is ILLEGAL to drive with the Placard hanging from the rear view mirror
The law should be if anybody gets caught misusing a handicap placard, they get fined, their car registration goes up 50%, and their driver's license renewal gets doubled!! In CA that means $72 for a driver's license renewal. Over $200 for most car registration. On top of the at least $500 fine! Maybe that will prevent these bastards from misusing handicap placards!
Braden Sorensen Oh God I hate that music!!! I work in a medical office and every insurance company I call plays that same crap music. The placard misuse tickets in Arizona are cheap compared to CA.
I am handicap. In order for me to shop I have a scooter. There have been countless times I've had to park so far off due to people who are not handicap taking up spaces that are meant for handicap people. Glad to see that there are people looking out for us & issuing tickets.
What gets to me is, when people park right in front of the building and handicap people like me park in designated parking spots and walk up to the store and they see me and act like they are so privileged and have a right to park in the fire lane which is clearly striped with red stripes
Karen, for what it's worth, you're lucky that you can use a scooter, since I presume that having to "scoot" all that extra distance isn't a physical burden on you. (Note that I'm not saying that you're "lucky" to be handicapped. Just lucky to have the option of using a scooter.) It really stinks when the handicapped person doesn't have a scooter and having to walk the extra distance would be a serious difficulty, if it's even possible for them. I'm also glad to see tickets being written on those who wrongly park in handicap spots.
@@aichejaye363 Where I live people park there all the time without a placard and nothing ever happens. It was infuriating when we would have to take my grandmother after her stroke to her doctor's appointments and even there people would just take the handicap spot even though they didn't have a permit
So when you go to your doctor you can get a prescription for one and go to the DMV and it's all free? People would rather cheat and pay lots of money on tickets instead of free. 🤔 imagine that.
These violation fines are ridiculous, ridiculously low. They should open up the book at $700 and go up from there. When you say something to the jerks they all are smart asses or they threaten you. Me I just block them in and call the cops. The satisfaction I get from being there as they get their ticket is great. I like to stand behind the cop so I can smile and point at the offender.
I am a legal disabled placard holder in Falmouth, MA and there are constant and blatantly obvious violations all over town. Where or who do I contact about this?
Glad to see people getting caught that use handicap placards, if you know what it is like to be disabled and have to walk or stumble to a place and park far out for those dear kinds of people you will understand.
It really bugs me when people drive with them haning from their mirror. They're ONLY for when you're parked. Otherwise the placard CANNOT be displayed.
This operation should be going on in every city in America...why not? It's revenue for the city, and it is a law...failure to enforce it, well the problem continues.
triple the fine amounts maybe then scumbags will pay attention. in texASS people and the police DON'T CARE. try walking with a prosthetic leg in 105 heat, imagine sweating and the leg slides off.
