Amazing video. I have traveled a few times through the Manawatu Gorge by car and have always wondered what it was like by train. My Mum is from Palmerston North so I know the area well.
Immensely beautiful landscape, excellent camera quality. I would have liked to see the camera shots from that drone at 19.40☺. Apparently, some train/cabview lovers would have appreciated a bit more technical information (type of train etc.); it does'nt bother me, but maybe it can be added at some later moment? Anyway, I enjoyed the journey, thanks!
Great video. But needs beginning and ending - details about train, why is it at Pahiatua, where is it going, why does the video end before the train arrives at a destination (looks like it is just passing through Ashhurst)?
Too bad no picture was shown in the beginning of the train and driver. Crossings with no ringing signal..... No "dead man's pedal" (in case of the driver having a heart attack etc.), rather noisy experience in turns.... The train moves slow, you don't really need 20/20 vision for such rides, even I could do it. By the way, did that bird at 6:14 made it alive ?
Would it be too much to ask for the region and country to be included in the title. Not being a mind reader I have absolutely no idea where on planet earth this piece of track runs.
Thanks Philip, yes I too could have google mapped, but I just wanted to highlight the contrast with European cab view videos which leave you in no doubt where you are right from the start. It's really a matter of efficient communication by getting out of your bubble and putting yourself in the mind of the audience. Great video though.
Hi William, Its on the east coast of the North Island in New Zealand, first the train travels from Pahiatua to Woodville then travels east to west through the Manawatu George to Ashhurst. The station at the east end of the gorge is Woodville and the station at the west end is Ashurst. River fafting is popular down the Manawatu River in the Manawatu Gorge.
