Funny that East Pakenham is looking to end up like Alamein, an unstaffed last stop after a major, penultimate one. Maybe it'll get upgraded to host in future? Bunyip looks nice, and there's a great Mexican place a short walk from platform 2.
What i find interesting is the section between Drouin and Warrigul. The tracks alternate in height with the north track initially lower, then higher, then lower again. And at the Lardners Track crossing the north track is a level crossing whilst the south track is grade separated. It's been like this for at least 50 years since i lived in Morwell in the late 1960s. Is it possibly due to whether the track is uphill or down hill with the downhill allowing a steeper gradient as gravity assists in maintaining speed?
@@Wdeane1957 the north track is the original line when it was single line years ago. The south track was built with easier grades for the loaded coal trains heading toward Melbourne. 👍😀
I love the way you break the rides in 30 approx minutes. I Never have time to watch 2 hour trips. Are you ever going to finish the Overlander to Adelaide

There doesn’t seem to be any reason why this section can’t be 160kph? Given the correct engineering controls on the track. It’s straight/simple enough?
@@ashpeake2426 the south track was upgraded to 160kph. The north track was not. There are a number of things that need to be changed to up the speed to 160kph from the current 130kph on that track. I am sure it is not in the plan for the near future at least. 🤔👍🤔
I guess the cost came out cheaper this way. I must say that even though duplication would be better, this is a huge improvement on what it was. We can now wait in the platform for a much shorter duration instead of waiting out before still having to stop twice on the single line. 👍😀
