I can see how much this woman appreciates the driver... I know I appreciate the delivery drivers to bring my orders on ubereats. I do to change up my diet and also to support local drivers.
NO. Frozen meals is not a good idea. First, many of the seniors are eating the meals because they don't have to do anything. Maybe they are forgetful and won't heat the meals to eat. And you can't assume that every senior has a means to heat the meal. Propane (in my opinion) is expensive up here. I don't use it for anything other than hot water. I cook with a microwave, a small convection/toaster oven and an electric burner. I am lucky to have these appliances. But some seniors may not. Kern County needs to understand that not everyone lives the same kind of life they do. Many of these people are poor, stretching their fixed income as far as they can. And a hot meal 5 times a week is a lifeline for them. Let the community continue to cook the meals and send out drivers. Let them continue to interact with the seniors on their route. Let them continue to monitor their clients - are they sick, are they not answering the door, etc. Don't screw up a good thing that is working well with government efficiency - thos two words don't even go together.
