i completely agree, female second leads are often painted as the bitches of dramas when they should have the same characteristics of male second leads. However, I notice that most of these dramas have the lead as female which basically "needs" an opposing female since its dramaa. Honestly speaking personally I can relate to the second female lead more than the second male lead... It's because see most of the second male leads are shown as supportive, selfless and a GENUINE GOOD PERSON..... Now if we were to speak facts I mean can you really let go the one you're in love with so easily? In most k-drama the second female lead is shown as the antagonist. I think what they do is actually brave, they don't let go the one they love so easily. Yes, they may turn to options that are not very wise. (keep in mind that the writers make them like that) While the second male lead is SUPPORTIVE. I mean come on most of the second male leads doesn't even confess that they are in love with the other person. They are there to be the SHOULDER TO CRY ON whenever the FL is hurt. So at the end they just make the HAPPILY EVER AFTER for the FL and ML by themselves and end up alone while still in love. I mean why? WHY CAN'T YOU GO FOR HER WHEN YOU LIVE HER? CHASE HER. SAY THAT YOU LOVE HER. It's not as easy as it is said but how will you know that she will not live you until and unless you try??? Maybe if she knows that you love her as in A PERSON and NOT A FRIEND she can love you too right? BUT NO THEY HAVE TO BE THE STEPPING STON TOWARDS THE MAIN COUPLE'S HAPPILY EVER AFTER. In many k drama we get to a see a evil Second female lead and a selfless second male lead. I mean why? Why doesn't the second female lead deserve to be a good person? Why must she be shown as some sort of Evil Step mother?! I have a huge Second Male/Female Lead Syndrome so I really feel distressed over these..... This was just my thoughts and meant no offense.... i've thoughts about this so many times. why is it (not just in kdramas) anime shows, kdramas and movies, etc is the second female lead always written as the bitch?? but the male second lead is written as a "good guy" and is accepting of the main couple. they make the second female lead the villain of the story. i can't remember the last time in a show where the female second lead was like the male lead, kind and accepting. the only one i can think of is: toradora, minorin is accepting of taiga and ryujis relationship and puts her best friend first. i can't think of any other. Why is that??? Why in so many shows/movies are female second leads personality is being a bitch and DON'T get a redemption. It seems like misogyny behaviour to me.
the funniest part is that there part where it say " and you're probably with that blonde girl, who always made me doubt." the roles should be reversed since jojo in this case was the blonde girl

Tbh, I feel like Sun-oh doesn’t really deserve Jojo since he only went after her after finding out his best friend liked her. I personally like Jojo with Hye-yeong because it’s more of a pure relationship, BUT THIS IS JUST MY OPINION. Whoever she ends up with, it’ll be ok as long as they just clear up the friendship between Hye-yeong and Sun-oh yk.
Tempted and doctors hurt me the most bcs in Tempted she was ready for him, he chose for that girl over his friends, he only cared for his problems. In doctors he didnt care, he saw only the girl he liked. I can relate to both of these. I feel very bad for Lee Yuk joo more then for Jojo , like i hated sun oh for what he did to her.
I mean she rejected him at first, not to mention the trio was so toxic together it was fun to watch them but they were self destructive. And Even if Sooji and Shihyun got together Sejoo would've ended up hurt cus he liked her too, he would've been the second lead. Shihyun was happy for the first time in a long time with TaeHee and it was a healthy relationship

And i think it was the guys fault because i mean there is nothing wrong with him ended up falling in love with tae hee but he should have fixed their friendship and ended with them being friends again but instead an happy and healthy friend like they can start a new friendship. By episode 21 ShiHyun tries to end it off with them and confesses he likes Tae Hee and they still went out of their way to break them up. Sooji was so petty as well, she blames Tae Hee for ruining her friendship when she's the one that targeted the girl for no good reason
Writers know if they make a selfless, kind and perfect female second lead they're going to get some good opposers cause most kdrama watchers are girls. If girls can relate to the male second leads they can obviously relate to second female leads too.

I feel so sad for Soo Ah in Itaewon Class. I felt like Ro Yi was just selfish. He keep saying that he love her he wants to marry with her. But in the end he said that he like someone else...People say it's because Kim dami unconditionally loved him...She helped him... But it's not about helping.... Soo Ah loved him too.. She kept waiting for him.....Then how he just turn back from her.,????
Yes, I really felt bad for her character...well, it was like a learning curve for me lol. Because actually when the drama aired, I only shipped Sae ro-yi and Yi-seo. I just couldn't digest Soo Ah working so long for people who killed her father-figure. Then, when Yi seo, even though she was a random stranger connected to Ro-yi's story and went to crazy lengths to help him, I couldn't help but ship her with him, and she had such a positive character development. But when Saw ro-yi left in the dinner scene, my heart just broke for Soo Ah. She took the biggest revenge against the baddies at the end, also. And waited for him for so long. I realised that for Sae ro-yi, getting Soo Ah to quit and come with him, represented his revenge and nothing else. And seeing her work for those baddies was just like a driving force for him, like all those moments she asked him to stop going against them because it was getting too intense etc. He definitely saw her as his first love, but things changed after his father's death.

Ro Yi wasn’t selfish he liked Soo ah for so long and she knew that but didn’t ask him out because she wasn’t ready. he liked her for over 5 years. she didn’t make a move so he moved on. people are allowed to move on

Soojin in True Beauty was chefs kiss. I never loved and cared so deeply for a second lead before. Even the male second leads can’t compare. I feel like it helps that she was a well written character who had so many layers and depth. Even though I was furious about the sudden change in her behavior and blamed it on the writers, I think it makes sense now why she went to the deep end. I was so hurt for jugyeong bc she’s the bestest girl as well but when you start seeing things from the perspective of some of these characters you start to understand what kind of helpless state of mind they must’ve been in to act the way they do. I’m really glad she redeemed herself in the end and gained forgiveness of her friends bc some characters don’t get that chance. But I do think it’s hard to sympathize and relate with certain second female leads no matter how much you try to see from their pov. Like Sooji from Tempted was not a character I could understand neither cared for. There is a difference between having no choice but becoming the worst version of yourself bc you feel helpless AND being nasty and target innocent ppl that have nothing to do with you just bc you’re a spoiled brat and you feel like you can do whatever you please, and that’s how sooji was throughout the drama. That’s why I never got the hype for her. Neither did I feel anything when the friendship of that trio was ruined. So many ppl blame the female lead for it but they did that to themselves and honestly if she’s the reason behind it, she did them a favor. They were toxic and unhealthy for eachother. Whenever I see sooji in a list of “misunderstood second female leads who deserved the male lead” I die a little inside oof

Tbh. I feel like park sae ro yi and oh sooah should hav ended together. She was the one who gave the final blow which ended the company. She truly cared for him whereas jo yi seo was selfish and narcissistic who wanted to be with sae ro yi. I wasn't satisfied with the ending man..

It's always the point of view of the main leads that we've got, it's always them under the spotlights, I really find that edit interesting (and sad also lol) because it's focused on heart broken second leads for once. I never really care about them, I actually find them annoying most of the time because they're getting in the way of the romance. However this video feels like a way to honor them, to remember them and how hard their role must be. I think it's a beautiful, original edit. (Maybe I'm taking things to deep lmao)
U know they should have given soojin a better ending and they should have made her end up with seo Jun, I didn't have SLS until the last episode because I thought Seo Jun will end up with soo Jin, but they didn't! The writers thought that they would be more popular than the main lead and that's very petty of u to do that, who agree with me 😭😭😭
The audience has to realize that the second female lead is usually suffering much more than the main lead. They've literally either loved the male lead for so long and tried to pursue their love, and all of the sudden, it vanished. In a blink of an eye, the main female lead enters and the male lead immediately falls for her, and forgets about the second lead. So basically all the work the second lead was trying to achieve, just disappeared, which oftentimes, leads to them attempting to do something to the main lead, since they're jealous that they had to go through all the work and the lead didn't.
