I've come to the conclusion that there are many, many people who are suffering from a condition I call "terminal stupidity". They do stupid things until one of their acts of stupidity results in death, either them or the victim of their stupidity.
It's a common problem. I tell people, I probably save 20-30 people from death by stupidity everyday on the highway. Have to be vigilant of the brain dead behind the wheel.
No he is really clever. Has worked out that if you go slow in the fast lane the road ahead is always clear. "I got my cruise control set to 59. I pay my taxes. what's your problem?"
One thing I did before pulling out was to check trailer lights running, turn. Didn't want a run under . 4 wheelers bad at not looking. Retired road runner. 85 yrs old. 🐻
Was nice your family followed you bit and captured that one car decided it was his exit. That peterbilt looks good, since there's not many on the road anymore.
RU-vid sent you to me. I love your videos. And thanks for sharing and letting me ride along. I love all the different camera shots. And I even waved as we went by in the car. Lol
I used to be a truck driver, but got out of the field since I could not handle the stress levels and panic too easily. I am sad about my decision, but know I did the right thing by getting out of truck driving. I am far too afraid to try again, but glad for people like you who are best suited for it. Truck drivers, as a whole, are not given enough credit and recognition for their work. I truly understand how tough it is to be a truck driver from my experience. You take lots of initiative to do your job quickly, correctly, and safely.
That's that smallest oversized load I have ever seen, you don't need a pilot car for that where we live in Wisconsin, I thought those trucks were ten foot wide but it doesn't hang off your trailer far enough for that
I just love that cabin over. When I first stated driving that was the main type of rig out there. Then the hood became real popular. I had an old freightliner with a seven speed B cat in it. This was there go to truck when you first started with them. It wasn't very fast but it would out smoke a one stack mack with a window in the back. So I quit hauling steel cause I didn't care much for downtown New York city. So what'd I do, gotta job hauling rice to downtown China Town, guess where that was at,you got it, New York city. At least it was a decade run and I still had a cabin over but I had graduated to a double sleep. Now I had room to turn over at night with out hitting the wall,Whoopi. Boy I miss the old days when men were truckers and the women were glad of it. You all have a great day and hope you enjoyed a small short story.😏😎
All the trucks are hybrids they don't have that good deep sound anymore a big version of a Prius I'm not knocking the Prius but you know what I'm getting at
Steve, watching the back of your trailer when you went back on I-41 after getting fuel and noticed your lights could hardly be seen due to the winter crud it has accumulated. Just a friendly note. Dkc
Nice video with you and the family. During your pre-trip you might want to take a paper towel and some glass cleaner and clean off your trailer lights. Safe travels.
Get er done! Another spoke in the wheels for making this Country great! Hard working people who every day do their job (s) the Alabama song 18 Wheeler comes to mind. Stay safe and thanks for sharing.
Love the rolling footage awesome job very nice and that was not nice that little white car was lucky but that's Truckin. 4 wheelers don't care about us Driver's and what we got or if we got a family to make it back to home all they care about is them selfs safe travels Mr. Steve and to your Family
Actually in every state you can, its just that cops dont enforce it, just like up here in pa they dont pull anyone over for running with no headlights at night or during big storms with low vis
That old rig sure does sound mean !!! The turbo is like I haven't heard before ?? What gives it that distinct sound ?? Good solid old rig without a lot of fancy crap !!! I love the fact it's not stretched out like some. Great videos !!! Keep it up !!
I think that Ford Escape SUV was rubbernecking them because of the GoPro on the back of the car and I’m thinking they were wondering why it was on there and or lol how they could steal it. And there’s always idiots out there unfortunately like that car that cut you off , it’s people not paying attention to the signs and almost causing accidents because their scared to miss their turn instead of doing the rite thing of heading up to the next turnout and backtracking back to their missed turn, just plain old stupidity. Keep up the Great Work !! Stay and Play Safe !! 👊✌️
Great video. It's really nice for your family to help out with the shots. Great job family . I loved all the views. Good work. Very loving family. Was sweet when you said just stay behind me babe. Thank you for the ride. Keep them coming. Loving you from California. Be safe. 🇺🇲🇺🇲😀😀✌️✌️👍
That was great having footage of you from the car, there was pieces of footage that could have been reminiscent of the film Duel there. Folks that overtake then cut us off are the same the world over it seems it's as if they can not see us. Hope they paint that fire truck a better colour than that it was very drab. Great video, truck sounding fantastic. Stay safe and well over there guy's.
Beautiful with the flag over the truck at 7:52. Cabovers are my favorite. There is a white Peterbuilt COE that I have seen several times on US 15 between Frederick, MD and Thurmont. Love them. Thank you for the videos. I prefer the sound of the truck and engine over the music. The sound of the Cat is music to my ears. 👍
Steve. Great change of scenery with the chase car. Love to see the different views kinda like me driving down the interstate and trying to keep an eye on the cab over without getting in the drivers way. Good move to add to the mix John from the cape.
When I loaded those fire trucks in a C-17, we added a whole lot more chains, going fore, aft and sideways. FYI: South Carolina just passed a traffic law for going slow in the left lane. Automatic ticket.
Lack of what we Brits call 'Lane Discipline' is astounding to us. Trucks and coaches are just not allowed in the outside lane of 3 & 4 lane highways, & hogging the outside lane below the 70mph limit is 'Obstruction'', points on your licence. Smoke from the accelerating pick up is an MOT (annual inspection) fail.
I use to work for road construction company about ten years ago.. I help escort the company milling machine to south louisiana it had a 12ft drum machine weight over 100,000 lbs. That day we were just about through a town when this gentleman that was driving on the service road decide to enter the major highway, my driver said he ain't going to stop. I back off from the rigs and at the last second the gentleman swerve onto the shoulder and ditch! Very scary how some people drive!
Just started watching your vids. Good to see you’re flyers fans and also I’m sorry we have to go through the mediocrity and pain every year they bring us
Why is it that there are not more cab-overs? It seems that even it you had the 10 ft bedroom behind it you would still be a shorter rig than some of the long nose trucks!
nice screen shot of your cabover...................................................................just after the overpass turning left [american flag] waving behind you. 7:47 or so........!!
FSC Speed Shop..... Nice Pete, what year is yours? 3406B Cat? What box behind it? My first one was a new 1969 / 359 Pete extended hood with V12 Detroit, with the Spicer 4616 Compound (4x4 sticks), but later had to change out for a dbl Over 6X4 after I modified the engine. If you want to keep from getting algae, slime, bacteria, etc, in your fuel.... Just look in some of the Truck Stops (especially the T/A's) for FPPF's "Killem".... 16oz will treat 1280 gallons, or go on their website... fppfdotcom... check out all their fuel products as well as their "Where to Buy" tab.
Seen you heading south with a beautiful red fire truck this week, keep up the good work, hope they don't force you into a newer truck some day, I'm not a cab over fan but love old trucks, no anti-lock brakes, manual slack adjusters, but do like the electronic engine with cruise control and high idle control
Hi Steve, I’d just like to say car drivers that have not driven something big don’t realise how much room A, is needed to turn and B, room needed to stop and I’ve always said everybody should have a go in something bigger than a car (puddle hopper) just so they know or have an idea, I’d have hung on them horns much more than you did I thought you were quite polite not like me (horn horn horn) and more horn just in case they didn’t see me anyway keep trucking. MarkUK
You don't seem to mind braking harder than you necessarily should, better fuel mileage and less wear and tear if you plan further ahead TimeWise to keep your momentum under better management
I just became a subscriber. First vidio. In my mid 20's I was a passenger for my boyfriend. He drove for May trucking. I am in my mid 50s now. Miss being in a big truck so love watching trucking vidios. Ty for the video's
Lol no grease on 5th wheel, not much of a tug test. Didn't visually check to see if the jaws fully locked and no inspection of the lights and tires. Good job
W9w, great to see an old school driver with an old school truck become a new aged driver that doesn't do a Pre-Trip Inspection......just applies air to trailer and goes 😒🤔🤔🤔🤔
Should I film that for you. I'm sure everyone else would love to be bored to death for you're benefit. FYI I leave the air to my trailer regularly so all you see me hit is the tractor brake. But do try and troll again.
Used to be' that big truck ' did blah, blah, blah. Now with the dashcams and the videos that are posted OMG it just couldn't be the otherway around?? Ha!Ha! Stay safe out there.
80,000 lbs can shake the ground. You can hear the truck a mile away. Load big enough to cast a shadow over the entire car. The wind off the truck will blow the car around. Flashing strobes front, rear, and sides. Bright flags in the wind. Regardless of the direction of the print they still can't see any of it.
Man, I bet that windshield costs a fartchum, ya know? Hard af to believe that much unarmored glazing (at all, really, but especially as a single piece) on the front of a FFV.
