Driving 600km to the Bottom of New Zealand! Road Trip Adventure 

Welcome to Episode Three of our New Zealand Van Life Series! In this episode you'll be joining on one HECK of a drive (600km to be exact) from Franz Josef Village, all the way down to the bottom (almost bottom) of New Zealand - to Curio Bay in The Catlins.

Come along with us as we embark on this hefty 600 km drive over a day and a half. It's safe to say, we packed in as much as we possibly could along the journey... Upon leaving Franz Josef Village, we indulged in one of the best salmon and cream cheese bagels we've ever tasted, followed by a GIANT bowl coffee (something we kiwis very much enjoy). From here we discovered a beautiful remote beach, swam in some of the bluest (and coldest) water we've ever experienced, and cooked dinner out the back of our van with unbelievable views of Lake Wanaka. After quickly scoping out a freedom camping spot in Cromwell, we called it a night and continued the rest of our roady all the way down to the bottom of New Zealand.
We had no idea what to expect with The Catlins, but we had heard amazing things. Fellow travellers urged us it was worth taking the giant trip down, even with our very short time span. We were pretty darn excited at the sound of a Petrified Forrest and the potential Dolphin spotting!
P.s. This whole series was filmed on an iPhone 12! We were pretty impressed with the quality. We also used a RODE external microphone - we had a few issue with this, but still managed to get some good quality sound in most videos.
