I'm in a similar situation, hated school was a terrible student because I knew from a young age what I was going to do & how I was going to do it. I'm 30 now and pretty successful ( not Lamborghini successful but do have a nice house will a garage and driveway full of paid off expensive cars). However as I have gotten older I have realized how important school really is and regret not taking it more seriously. You learn a lot that will be incredibly important later in life, and I'm not talking about the actual material you are taught, everyone knows you will likely never use the mass majority of the course work in the real word. What you do learn is much more important and the absolute core foundation to becoming successful.
The shot of the girl running while the drone pulled up away from her was movie worthy. All in all, many beautiful shots this time. Would've been cool if you had met a couple of your former teachers or classmates at the school, especially of those that tried to tell you you'd never make it ;)
you should take your old "friends" from high school for a ride and act more like an awkward stranger with them than an actual friend...and also start a lemonade stand
Haha.. I remember driving your truck when you lost your licence, I had Alberta licence and we got pulled over in Cathedral Grove. Cop said I couldn't drive and we had to get a tow truck. We waited for the cop to leave and drove off, only for him to pull us over again down the road. I have a pic of your old Toyota in an album somewhere lol.
To be perfectly honest, I've got so much more respect for you now knowing about your background just a little with the schooling and stuff. I mean mad props before but this takes it to another level. You definitely are a self made man. Crazy respect man. ✌🏻🤘🏻
Anybody else rewatching just to see the drastic difference between the vlogs style / editing skills from now? Or simply just rewatching? Its been awesome!
he is doing GT Con in July this summer and then there is Snowball Rally in the winter again. Congrats on the 570S man! love that car and hopefully I can work hard enough to own one, one day
That would be epic! I will be in Ace Spade Rally June 28-July3 Toronto - Montreal - Watkins Glen - New York - Ottawa. And then GTcon July 13-15 in Anaheim. Italian Stampede in Aug. +Wakeupeople bla so sign up to one of those events!
The moral of the story is it doesn't matter if you break the law, get punched in the face, arrested, drop out of school and loose your license. You can still end up driving a Ferrari
Nothing wrong with going to school, it's what you do afterwards that matters. There is a reason why 80% of millionaires have a college degree in the U.S. Not everyone is a genius or someone who dropped out of a prestigious school like Zuckerberg or Gates
As a high school teacher, proud to say ya made it buddy! Must be an amazing feeling to go from back then to where you are now when you have teachers dreaming they had your cars and life!
@@tsmutylo School doesn't teach you a thing about life after high school especially public schools... Private schools teach you some things but not everything.
i feel like school(im in 11th grade) is wasting all of my time and im missing out on opportunities that can make me achieve my goals. I seriously don't need school. I have enough knowledge on personal finance and other things to take me out into the "real world". Im not learning anything (except for an accounting class) that will help me in my future. School is your main source of education but not after middle school. High school is not necessary for entrepreneurs/people who want to be their own boss.
xae x true. I’m off to the 11th grade and god I’m tired of being forced to listen to some teacher teach me things I don’t give a flying fuck about. School is nothing but a waste of time
I'm back, watching this video three years later. It's insane, how far you've come and how hard you worked to get to where you're at. DDE currently has 2.42 million subscribers. I aspire to be like you, Damon, growing a large RU-vid channel/business and eventually being able to afford supercars. You're a really good example that nothing is impossible. No matter where you come from, as long as you work hard, you can make it to success.
Do you didn't get past middle school? Fking awesome man! Just proves school isn't the only path to success. I'm 15 at the moment and opening my own SEO Firm in September, I learned affiliate marketing this summer and gonna pair it with SEO to rank the blogs of the products! You're a true inspiration Damon, keep up the amazing work!
Much respect Damon, this gives me a lot of inspiration and hope in being an entrepreneur and relating to me not liking school at all very much 😂 great content Man keep it up!
This vid is quite the trip, as a long time DDE fan I've recently moved to Port Alberni...actually living on Burde Street just up from where your high school used to be. You wouldn't recognize it now, the last of the condo developments art just being finished. J&L's still serving up the delicious grease!
I've been watching DDE for over a year.. and honestly I think this is my favorite video I've ever seen come from the DDE channel.. glad to see your dreams have come true
Extremely motivating video! We just moved to Nanaimo a couple months ago. Whether you win or you lose, the effort you’ve put forth will have added value to your dreams, because it’ll give you many positive things that you’ll be able to utilize as you continue moving forward.
What's sucks about skipping the video is that you get spooked about the dumbest things. I was skipping about 5-6min ahead and then I just see a lady dressed in all black writing down on a notepad..."WAIT WHAT!!" In my head I immediately thought he got a ticket 😂 Aaaaaand that's my story, I have no reason why I'm still typing but the aftermath was that I had to rewatch the whole video ;) aight bye
Hello Damon I was in that Cathedral Grove in 1989. I'm trees are wild. So big it was amazing just can't be in there when it's windy. I live in Nanaimo for about 6 months then I went to North Delta that's when I was 18 then I went back to visit my cousins and broke my back in a car accident. But I'm all good now I can walk and work just like everybody else. I'm just glad it happened out there not back in Saskatchewan. You make some pretty cool videos been watching quite a few of them lately. You're pretty cool cat. And Alex Choi he's awesome funny guy. Have fun and play safe
Recently saw the vinwiki video where you tell this story, thought it sounded familiar... just realized I watched this video the day it came out. Keep up the content man your killing it 🤘
I’ve was subscribed back then but never saw this video for some reason. I enjoyed watching this old video guys. We all get stuck in the now but seeing where you guys came from in life, videos etc is pretty awesome. I don’t consume much content anymore trying to do big things myself but I always make time to watch you guys. Funny thing is I’m not even a car guy really. I mean I’m a dude and love the cars obviously but just love the content in general. Keep killing fellas 3 mil subs right around the corner!! 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
Ohhhhhh man the memories, I remember all of that, the new high school is up by the fairgrounds, I used to live in west port place, this is like memory lane for me, Yes I'm a year late to this video, but stillll, now I miss that town >.
Graduated high school, dropped out of college and all my friends said I wouldn't be successful and now they have degrees and are still broke. Meanwhile I'm making $50k/year without a degree and have owned two cars in the last 8 months, an 08 Porsche and a 2015 BMW + I'm buying a house soon. By the way, I'll be 20 years old this month. School DOES NOT = SUCCESS Motivation and HARD WORK = SUCCESS There is no excuse to not find success and don't think because you didn't go to college or graduate that you can't be successful. Most people with degrees struggle to find jobs after they graduate + all of the debt (most of the time) that they have from school. By the time some of my friends graduate college, I'll already have 4 years of experience in my role as a digital designer while they struggle to find a job that'll accept their degree over experience.

Love the "learner's license" story...... I used to have the cops chase me home to Lions Bay back when the 99 was a two lane road. I'd come flying through Horseshoe Bay where they had a 50 km/hr zone at about 100 km/hr and they'd sit right around the corner in a pull out. I'd downshift a couple times on whatever sportbike I was riding (600 Hurricane, ZX-7, CBR 900RR, GSX-R 750....) and wave good-bye.................. Now I have an Escort Redline hooked up with the Cheetah Bluetooth in my helmet, so I'm not up to the same antics with the RSV4-RF. I barely made it out of West Van high myself............ My teachers never thought I'd amount to anything either............. Academic success early in a young man's life is irrelevant............... The Eagles said it best, "Who is gonna make it, we'll find out, in the long run............" Cheers.

I hope you see this Damon from this old video. -- GREAT LIFE STORY D! CONGRATS ON YOU'RE SUCCESS AND BEING SO DOWN TO EARTH, AND a COOL Dude as well. Everyone has their own way... Things that work for them as part of who they are... Just because a person doesn't do "What you're Suppose To" Formal Education etc DOES NOT mean you will amount to Nothing... Its all Hard Work, and LIFE Experiences- Successes and Failures- Learning from Others- and Growing each day to prove the Haters wrong!! I wish More people were like you man.- Not Stuck up, Looking down on others- Helping whoever you can to Motivate, and Improve themselves. WAY TO GO!
