Most notable differences between the C8 E-Ray, Z06, Stingray and my previous electric vehicles within the first 200 miles. Very different car to the rest! What questions do you have?
Post-break-in review? The electric motor sounds when cruising, are they always there in every drive mode, that would drive me nuts! How much more or less engaging is the Z06 vs E-Ray during street driving?
@@Scorpio1075 I recorded one but just haven’t had the time to edit it..to busy! The E-Ray motor sound is only at very specific throttle angles and honestly you just forget about it after awhile.
Excellent video.. you touched on a bunch of things I’ve experienced with the ERay also… My AFM has kicked in at over 60mph coming off the throttle and I had wondered why. I’m over 500 miles now and I can’t confirm an exhaust note changes because of lousy weather I haven’t driven it. I also noticed Z mode has a much better sound than my mode even having turned up the engine sound to Track on both. Maybe in Z mode you’ll get the snap crackle pop like the stingray. I can tell you the car is incredibly quick when you get on it after 500… there is a split second delay with the electric motor really kicking in though after putting the throttle to the floor.
Yes 100% on Z mode having a better tone than My Mode. Stingray and Z06 have always had the valves open full time but as you noted too, not the case on the E-Ray. We broke 400 miles today so plan to be there in the next few days!
My C8 had cylinder deactivation, ( & ik it stayed off in manual mode ) Hated it , glad my Z won’t have it , START / STOP is even worse and it’s coming for Corvettes too
Great video, it's great to see an actual owner/driver highlight the driving differences of the cars, especially without youtuber-ing it all up. Dropped a sub.
Of course. Hybrids are for suckers. No value added. If you must have more than stock C8 hp, put a pro charger on a stock stingray and blow this electrified POS into the weeds. I am an automotive engineer and laugh at how ignorant the public is about about automobiles. This thing will be in the landfill right out of warranty because it has 2.5 x's the technical complexity of a stock Stingray and people will need a second mortgage to keep it on the road. Resale will be sh_t with the Eray because nobody wants one out of warranty with an aging battery and electronics. This car has100 computers FWIW and electronics fail like clockwork with age and planned obsolescence is precisely the point. The dirty secret in the industry is, the only reason why automakers created heavy hybrids with boat anchor batteries is for profit aka replacement parts out of warranty.
@@lukewalker1051 OMG! I agree with you so much after years as a pilot having taught aircraft systems. The public needs serious education, but negatives will be kept under the rug. Actually very said.
Good video and very informative, I'm so happy I got my C8 Z06, with all due respect, I rather have the Stingray than this E-Ray, for a sports car, I want to hear the V8 exhaust, with this it's like dancing without music, ,maybe that's just me.
Im sorry..i have z06 c8 and love that sounds of the engine. But this eray sounds boring . The z06 will have a higher demand than this eray. The electric motor transmission is not gonna be a selling point for eray for sure
I have subscribed! I appreciate your methodical explanations - you speak my language. I look forward to more content explaining the high torque feel at moderate throttle input at highway speed. And perhaps the feel at 40mph winding through back roads and 50% throttle pulling out of a curve. I have a 2024 Z06 and it pulls fair around 3-4k rpm but doesn't really wake up until 7k rpm. Looking at the E-Ray dyno sheet, it appears you feel most of the torque 2-4k rpm...
If you want good gas mileage buy a Honda Civic. I get around 8MPG on my C8/Z07 and loving it. ✌🏼 Mods: *Titanium Ryft Exhaust *Eventuri intake *Ported throttle bodies *Soul High flow sport cats C8 Z06 💯 Eray… No thx
Totally agree. The Eray is nothing but an over priced Stringray.. I happen to have a 3LT C8 Stingray and a a 3LZ C8 Z07 and I have to say the Stingray is a dust collector now.. No interest in driving it at all. After you have a plane crank with the mods I have you never look back. Get a Z06 and save yourself some disappointment ✌🏼
@@2020matrix8 - I'll take my z51 c7 manual over anything new...especially the electric garbage. If I want an electric car that doesn't pop, I'll use my Toyota hybrid. When I wanna go crazy and roar at 160+ thru the Vegas desert, I use my c7 🤣🤣 ....Chevy has lost its way by making any vette automatic or electric!!
New sub. How did you get one so fast? Last I heard was there was no retail allotments yet. I’m on the list, but I’ll be shocked if I get mine before 2026. Anyway great to see the video. Keep them coming please!
@@gearedmedia1 I think you misunderstood my question. What I was looking to find out is there a mode you can set the car in so that AFM will not engage?
@gearedmedia1 Highly looking forward to your next video. E-Ray has been out, but only a few youtubers share the opinion and daily driving experience so far. Especially the person like you who has both E-Ray and Z06. Thank you
I like the new interior, pretty much hate everything else. I still prefer the C6 to drive around, no AFM, no crappy tablet gauge cluster, a good old 6 spd (don't care for the 1 > 4 shift nonsense, but nothing is perfect), gets insanely good gas mileage for a sports car, it has the round brake lights, and for when they add it to new corvettes, no auto start\stop.
@Fred-vy1hm it just looks too much like camaro tail lights on a corvette to me. Overall exterior looks, I still prefer the c3 over what they're making today. Not necessarily tail fins territory, though there are plenty of beautiful classic cars out there with those.
I’ll add the C6 is easier to get in and out of. My biggest beef with the C6 is that front drags too much. BTW, look into the skip shift eliminator. It will be the best $20ish spent!
@@yarrik701I had no interest at all in all previous corvettes. The C8 is the first and only one I’ve ever wanted. Getting my Stingray next weekend. They may have upset fans of previous corvettes, but they seemingly attracted way more than they lost.
Classic old guy statement gives you how little Miles are on the old guy car can we pan the camera down to see if there's New balance sneakers on this guy... They're proud to tell you they spent money on a car they don't drive😂
Does it really matter its there car and money they can do whatever they want with it. Some guys buy them and park them there just collectors I have a low mileage C7Z drove it a lot first few years now it doesn't get driven much because I have other toys I drive instead living in the desert I prefer my new Raptor. I can take it out and run the shit out of it and not worry about getting a ticket of going to jail for excessive speeding on the public roads.
