@@tjs468 I never got that, keep the heat on or turn it down. Why on earth would you turn the A/C on in the winter just crack the window open a bit, free cold air.
Good god. I remember how dumb I once was driving to work with a tiny pocket of windshield that wasn't covered in snow/ice. I was mostly guessing on where the lane is. After becoming a father, I realized how many times I could have been in an accident, and much more aware know that I have another life driving with me.
Its when your vehicle heats up after a decent drive and you slam on the brakes and all the roofs snow comes on to the window, blinding you and your wipers arent strong enough to clear it. Welcome to Toronto on the 401.
@@ChuckBeefOG hey quick tip, clear your roof before driving off... You are putting yourself and everyone else at risk by beeing lazy to save basically 15 seconds.
100% sure I live in Minnesota and the winters in Minnesota are brutal. We get bologna zero we get below freezing even we got so bad at the point where our windows literally turned ice and we were in a deep freeze for a good week and I’m graduated. Thank God by after I moved in my apartment is when that deep freeze happened and they didn’t even cancel school they had ago when I was in school they did nowadays they won’t cancel for anything they just make the kids go to online learning which is bogus. Let them have a snow day. That’s the fun part of being a kid going outside during the winter playing in the snow.
Bad part of living in Missouri, very few people know how to drive in the snow, and yet when the roads start getting bad, everyone thinks its time to go for a drive
"It wouldn't be so bad out there if it wasn't for the wind." That is so dead on. The number of times I've walked into a place shaking off snow there will always be some hundred year old dude by the entrance that says this to me.
You have to take your window scraping credit card and pry it down between the glass and weatherstrip on the outside of the window and cut the ice. I always know my window is froze before i leave the yard because i smoke lol.
But we know what to do with grits...the midwest grows all the corn. You don't think we know about grits? Maple syrup, pecans, and walnuts or butter and sugar or just some cheese added in.
Scraping ice off my windshield at 4:40am hating life when all of a sudden the tree above me decides to drop a massive snow shit right into the back of my shirt. Ahhhh winter :’)
At some point it gets so cold, you don’t feel it unless the wind blows. At least that is the case in the New England area. 10 degrees is no different from 30 unless there is wind.
I remember as a kid I thought that was a stupid saying but as I got older I thought "wow but REALLY it wouldn't be so cold out here if it wasn't for the wind"
You forgot just driving with your head out the window for a bit because you gotta get to work and the defroster hasn't defrosted your window and you dont have a scraper.
Me, getting ready to drive to work in winter while still sick, seeing the back window completely covered in god knows how much ice and snow: "eh.... I don't _need_ the rearview mirror, do I?"
"we're out, thank god those 14 people stopped to help us" lolol. this is too true. ive been stuck before and had multiple people stop to help dig me out.
That was me last friday here in Colorado, 14inches and was saying almost every single thing in this video, legendary video. The clicking the shoes before getting in is a must
there aren't that many of yous up there, I'm sure you could find him! He's clearly in SW Fargo by the new hospital. Used to live near there, I recognize all the buildings in his vids.
I admire his commitment to authenticity. As a Minnesota,n I can see several subtle details that show me that it was indeed f-ing cold when he filmed this.
Weakens that tension spring in the metal arms just use cheap blades for winter and deal with the frozen mess and torn rubber or better yet a water bottle of washer fluid to pour over the window
I've gone through 4 door handles... "Why don't you open the door more carefully?" ...."Honey... I just really need to shovel the driveway right now. Make some soup, please."
There needs to be a video series on this alone. Things like old cars having the door hinge snap off on you, getting a car starter for Xmas and almost coming to tears to the greatest Xmas present you ever received, so cold the battery goes dead, driving on roads you haven't drove in a while and trying to remember when the next stop sign is, following the path on the road that the other cars have left even though it is clearly crossing the street lines (and then have a cop pull you over for suspected DUI), getting snowblind, the lack of confidence in ABS, etc.
Oh man, and the noise your truck makes when you forgot to plug it in, or worse, the noise you make when someone unplugged the other end of the cord....
Yes! Thank you! Did it for a whole winter in my ol’ dodge. I found out the actually sell portable heater that plugged into the cigarette lighter. As you’d expect, worked like crap. Always had to keep my full winter garb on and had to stick out my head a time or too... looked something like this www.amazon.com/12V-Portable-Car-Heater-Fan/dp/B07WRYG4J7/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?keywords=car+heater+portable&qid=1576082807&sprefix=car+heater+po&sr=8-8
im from Sacramento CA and I went to Allentown PA for school from January to June. first day of class was -7*F... Ive never missed home more in my entire life.
Because you're just blowing cold air into the cabin. Once you got a little heat under the hood youll get warm air....ain't like it just blows warm air on command.
I live in Florida, have less than a sip of experience driving in snow in other states, this just made me not take that for granted. BUUUSSSCCHHHHHHHHHH is the sound it makes when the tires roll on the snow.
Sometimes I do but it just depends how cold it is and if running late. If I can clean the ice off in like two minutes I'd rather do that then let my car idle for 10 to melt it.
@@travisn346 uncalled for. we are all americans. we should be trying to help each other and appreciating the good in each other's states and learning what works
