@@samuelpo3378 We do lots of people do not own cars and never will unless you move out to the burbs down the line. Subway for all its flaws is pretty reliable apart from the random delays but it will usually get you from one part of the city to another pretty fast.
Having spent a lot of time in Chicago, Dallas, Denver and Los Angeles (ohh, St. Louis and Atlanta also), the driving in NYC us unlike anything else in America. After one particularly brutal trip across Manhattan, I realized that this isn't road tripping - it's more like combat driving. Or urban road warfare. Attention all road warriors.
perhaps the traffic moves so slow that it doesn't rly matter, since the risk of crashing is slim, plus everyone does it, it would certainly suck to be a cop in that traffic too.
@esl4058 1 second ago I’m an electrician who has to drive a van loaded up with tools to job sites. I can tell you that most people on the road not only obey the traffic laws but encourage others to. Whenever you see a car doing something crazy or reckless it’s almost always a cab or a bike. Contrary to what movies show, most cabs in NYC today are not yellow but look like regular cars. You can spot them by their license plates which always start with a T and end with a C (Taxi Cab). Cabs are notoriously awful on the road and bikers do whatever they want. As a pedestrian you have to constantly keep an eye out for bikes even more so then the cars.
My sister lived on a busy street in SF for a while. She said the noise actually helped her sleep after a while. Said it was weird to come back home to our town where it was totally silent after 1 am.
@@MikaelMahsudjan Could be, some people actually use white noise machines to help falling asleep but it's not generally recommended to keep those on for extended periods of time, like overnight. Noise pollution is shown to be real health hazard in multiple studies, but so is insomnia on the other hand, and these hazards don't depend on personal preference.
@@jarivuorinen3878 i get what you mean but in this case apparently if you have adapted to the certain noise(living next to train station?), meaning you were born and lived there your formidable years - then you are so used to that noise, that when you move away to a quiet location and try to sleep, you cannot because there isn't that noise your whole being was adapted to. So quiet is stressful until you get adapted to quiet, but that might take some time in example I have given. I for example cannot sleep with slightest of noise because I got used to dead silence growing up in village. City is never that quiet. I use earplugs whole day because the less noise there is the less stressed I feel.
@ 11:50 -13:22 WHY U JUST SITTING BEHIND THE CAR AND THE RIGHT LANE IS ALL THE WAY OPEN. YOUR A TAXI DRIVER COME ON NOW! STIL A NICE VID BUT THE DRIVING IS DRIVING ME CRAZY
This shit is the worst. I drive from CT to Brooklyn and I'm in traffic for 4 hours just tooo see some damn chick bro.. aint worth it. I hate New York ..
Ive been a lot of places. Never been to NYC. But I have seen so many videos of the city I feel like I have been there. I'm great with roads and finding my way around towns. I know I could navigate NYC. I dont know if I would survive it. But I could navigate. I love your vids btw.
So interesting to look at the streets, highways, road incorporations, layouts and of course traffic jams in NYC are very similar to Mexico City! Regards!
Some remarks: - Amazing to see so many above ground power lines (on surface streets in the Bronx). That doesn't exist anymore in (larger) European cities. - The streets are sometimes in bad shape. - Most drivers are remarkably relaxed. - When you live in NYC you have to spent a large part of your life in slow-moving traffic (or in crowded trains).
There is a reason why there aren't mice as large as elephants. As size grows, so does the shape and the layout of the animal. The same is valid for countries and cities. It would be prohibitively expensive to lay power cables underground in city (or country) that is much more spaced out.
@@SelfReflective NYC is more densely populated than most European cities. So, per capita, underground cables are cheaper in NYC than in most European cities.
@@SelfReflective Manhattan already has underground power lines. The Bronx can do better. Above ground power lines in parts of a city as dense as NYC is what I called amazing.
Everything looks so fucking old an broken. The barriers, the street, the walls, the tunnels .. rebar visible because the concrete is already falling apart... That city looks like it's just waiting to fall apart. Far from its former glory
Thanks for the video. I enjoyed it. I live in a very rural part of Germany. The traffic in New York City is a totally different story to what you will find here.
Проезды стоп-линий, хаотичные перестроения, влезания не из того ряда, парковка на тротуарах, выезд на пешеходный переход и создание помех пешеходам и все такое. Бараны везде бараны.
Dzjeez, those roads are in even worse shape than those in Belgium or Bulgaria. And that's from personal experience. I do remember amazingly bad road-surface in Chicago, 1989. Mind-boggling, Third-World like.
Thanks for awesome video. It's my uncle's dream to visit USA, most specially NYC. I was thinking of putting money aside and gift him for his birthday both sides ticket, but then I saw how expensive even the cheapest accommodation is in there. I would have to go with him, because he doesn't speak English.
Those ROADS sure are in terrible condition!!! Don’t New Yorkers pay $$$$$$$ in TAXES?!?! (I understand the weather is severe in winter, so what! fix the roads!). ……I’d be VERY UPSET if I lived there!
@@Eye-it-azz If you READ my comment, I think the EXTREMELY HIGH taxes there should resurface the roads there every year. …..and yes, life is GREAT here in L.A.!! 🌞🌞🌞
@@eddieg6436 Again, you’re talking outta your assss. Truck drivers would literally quit than go into NY, that’s how congested it is, what nickname does NY have ? The City that never sleeps. It would be easier to break into the White House than to shut down roads for repairs and maintenance every year, only a moron would say “New York roads needs to be repaired and maintained every year” Have you heard of criminals using cars to commit crime in NY ? You would sit in traffic while the cops put you in cuffs. You sound like you haven’t been anywhere where it snows.
@@eddieg6436 You sound extremely intelligent. Waste billions of dollars every year fixing roads ? Dude, you’re from California, California ranks amongst the top 3 states with the worst roads, you’re from California and have the audacity to talk about NY roads ? 😂 I wasn’t expecting much from some dumb kid on the internet
Your videos are very interesting. I have to say Manhattan would be a bit too much for me. I come from an environment where it is quiet and little happens. If I come to New York one day, I need a few days to process everything in my head. But once in my life I want to come to new york.
After all the 4k glitter Manhatten loft bombing by the algorythm, it feels great to see the America I always wanted to settle in. Especially the tarmac part.... #51sts
visited ny for the first time 10 years ago from ireland, it is amazing how dense the city is...just residential blocks and projects for as far as the eye can see, and driving for miles and miles it seems like you will never be able to escape the place..
Living in New York City is like dancing through the streets, where every corner holds the promise of a new adventure and opportunity waiting to be embraced. I enjoyed your video🗽🗽
While I live in Europe, I think this is something to be said about not only New York City, but North America in general. Namely that your towns, cities and endless suburbias are like living organisms with the number of stores being higher per capita, the traffic more severe, but also more motional and as you say, there’s something going on and to pay attention for at every street. My experience in Europe is that our urban areas and street life are generally more stagnant and sterile in comparison
@@user-hu3iy9gz5j I don't know where you're from but in United States it is only like that in large cities and mostly just Los Angeles Chicago NYC San Francisco and maybe Seattle and Miami, the rest is equally as stagnant and sterile, even more than most European towns
Sheesh, bronx is depressing looking. Ugly blocks as far as the eye can see, vegetation looking like its barely hanging on. Everything looks run down. Sad.
good grief, why would anybody want to watch this ? If you have to do it for a living ,so be it.. did for one year in the mid-80`s & than said enough, what ever extra money I made was just not worth it.
I live in Connecticut and I love visiting NYC. A few areas can get a bit sketchy though. The South Bronx is NYC's most dangerous neighborhood in my opinion.
