I’d go with the Hyundai over the Toyota both for the initial cost and for the parts and maintenance costs. I had terrible problems finding parts for my Hilux. I got rid of both the Hilux and my well loved VW Gol and got a Vitara, because I need a 4x4 with low maintenance costs.
Thanks Jesse. Do not watch our next video then lol. Surprised you've had issues sourcing parts for a Hilux. It's one of the more popular options so assumed parts wouldn't be an issue. Vitara is a good option - we would have considered this for our family if it had a 3rd line of seats. We were mainly concerned about the costs of maintaining/reparing the battery for the electric motor. But, it's much more reasonable than it was and there are some non-casabaca options now too.
@@yapatree9495 yeah, I was surprised about the parts cost and availability too. At one point I had to import an axle from Japan. It cost $1400 and took 3 months to get. It was totally hit or miss with the parts for my Hilux. Some were easy to find, others had to be imported which meant the truck would sit for months at the mechanic.
I probably prefer that route (GYE -> CUE) because of the downhill part where Cuenca comes into view for that 'coming home' feeling. If you can time it for the sunset, you're on a winner! Only issue is it can then get dark for some of the Cajas which is less than ideal.
Very true JD! Didn't mean to throw shade, just sharing my experience. Happy for you to challenge me on anything negative we've said. For what it's worth, my starting point is that I'm trying to like Guayaquil and not follow stereotypes.
