Ride along as we take a scenic drive from Winnemucca, Nevada to Portland, Oregon. Along the way we'll visit the towns of McDermitt, Nevada, Burns, Oregon, Hines, Oregon, Madras, Oregon and Sandy, Oregon.
Find out in which of these towns Butch Cassidy and his gang robbed a bank.
After crossing the desert and scrub lands, we'll encounter a snow storm in the mountain pass near Mount Hood.

I'm finding the historical tidbits that come on screen to be interesting. I forgot to submit my comments in the video prior to this, but I will mention one thing from it. The Alien Travel Center? LOL Is that where they all go after Roswell? Also, the Bean and Brew. "beans, beans, the musical fruit...." LOL

How do you not panic while driving in snow and how does your truck not slide? I know tire chains can help but still.

Driving in snow doesn't bother me; it's all the other drivers who don't know how to drive in snow that bothers me. Any size vehicle can avoid sliding in the snow when driven at an appropriate speed for the conditions. I've got 18 wheels and a lot of weight! Tire chains are only for extreme conditions; I've only had to put my chains on two times in seven years.

Going this route to vegas late jan. Any stretch of this hwy that is the dangerous?

If you're coming out of Portland, I wouldn't go this way because US-26 goes right by Mt Hood and the roads can get dicey. I'd take I-5 south to OR-58, just south of Eugene. This route can get dicey too, but it is farther south than US-26. If you go this route, follow US-97 south to Klamath Falls & then head southeast on OR-39 through Tulelake, then at Alturas pick up US-395 south to Reno, then I-80/US-50 east to Fallon & then US-95 all the way to Las Vegas. Hope this is helpful for you.

@@Myotradventure thank you thank you soo much..Im guessing i5 speeds can increase time..i got my blizzak Bridgestones on so im not worried too much..just worried about how much lost time ill get. Im hoping January clears up hahaha 😅 maybe ill cancel my hotel Winnemucca? Love travel videos..suffering from anxiety it gives me a better idea what im up against..thanks so much :)

No matter which route you take you’ll have to take a mountain pass; even if you cross over south of Weed, CA. Just check road conditions before you start your trip and check for updates along the way. If you route plan 2 or 3 routes, you can make better decisions as you get updated weather & road conditions info along the way.

My main goal with these videos is to share the beautiful scenery of the areas I travel through. Although I did consider making mention of the Warm Springs Reservation because I drove through so much of it, in the broader context of what I was sharing, it didn't seem relevant to mention it. Now that I know there is interest in that information, I'll consider pointing this out in future videos. Thanks for your comments.
