It's easier to swap these days. You get blank pcms and write whatever you want in them, along with a trans tune. You just have to make sure you have a setup that's compatible with each other.
Yeah once you understand the basics of this it opens your eyes. Anything is possible these days and its not even a matter of just throwing money at research and development. Within this decade, things will be mostly plug and play for the average joe with some basic shop tools.
@Rift33SRT Talk to Russell Drake at sound german automotive. The 8 speed swap is very possible. Needs more custom work on the pre late2013 models but it is doable and has been done.
I think its harder now a days because of all the electrical components. With carb or even early EFI the wiring was minimal compared to the harness’ and components now.
This an extremely clean build. Brand new interior with the old body style. Doesn’t get better than with new American muscle under the hood. If you ever sell your vehicles I’ll definitely be checking this one out
@@MrJ183 it’s the fact dodge hasn’t done this yet; you have to build this or buy it from someone who did and it’s fully built which it makes it even better so whoever made this could have critiqued everything dodge overlooked
Love how you got the interior to work. I wish the major car brands would offer interior swaps and motor kits for old vehicles to modernize them and make them reliable
Its because things like that ypu should really do yourself, shops dont wanna be responsible and they dont wanna here complaints. When its Custom things like that no one else can see the vison you have in your head. Most crazy builds are usually done by the person you wanted done and they team the put together.
Every time I see this truck in action I am just blown away by how it all works so well. Absolutely in love with the truck man can’t wait till it’s ironed out and going full send.
My dad had a Dakota Sport when they first came out in that body style, I remember always wanting a single cab 5.9 R/T with the Cervini Sniper Bodykit. Yours definitely is the nicest Dakota on YT maybe even in the states, especially it being A Hellkota. Keep up the good work & shout out from Dallas
I remember my Bright Silver Metallic 2001 5.9 R/T. Extended cab. Very loosey goosey until the tires warmed up 🤣. Kept it completely stock except for a Flowmaster 40 series catback. I never thought I’d love again. Then you made a Hellkota. SOB.
Those Dakota trucks are still my favorite Dodge trucks I love my big horn Hemi ram but man those lil Dakota's are mean looking, that must be an insane ride...... Have fun be safe.
First video I saw in your channel. My grandpa had Dakota red color. He loved his truck he barely drove it only to go to check his crops in Mexico. Builds like this what I enjoy watching. Cheers from California
Love the style of the 5.9 R/T minor modifications it’s a fun truck. The dash fitment looks perfect. Bought a wreck and swapped? Cheaper and less labor intensive. Does it have speed sensors for launch and stability control? Sick ride, I’ll be watching. Many are purchasing homes zoned or with the shops to cut overhang and live simple. Been living that dream almost a decade.
Tires will get flat spots like that from sitting. If you plan on letting it sit for any amount of time consider putting the truck on jack stands. Don't have to take the wheels off, or even get them completely off the ground. Just lifted enough to remove some pressure off the tires. Or air the tires up to max PSI before storing it.
I have a 1999 with a rebuilt engine, new exhaust, new front suspension, and new brake lines (original rusted out), and despite having a tenth of the power of this one I can tell you going for a drive today with the dog was just as satisfying. Moral of the story, don't get intimidated by big projects like this. You can learn as you go and still take pride in it. As long is you aren't a ricer
My first truck was a 4 door 4.7 dakota 4x4 and it was a fun truck. I can't imagine what an r/t with a hellcat swap must be like. The clean interior swap really makes it so much better. Very nice. I miss the old dakotas.
I kinda miss the regular Cali garage content. However, loving the unexpected. Is he moving to Texas, Florida, Arizona. Is he going to a car meet. Is he getting the Hellkota.. ahh. The possibilities.
Crazy how I was looking at a Dakota last week and said “damn this would make a killer sleeper” and next thing you know your video shows up crazyyy !! 😂I think my phones listening to my convos and Texas is a nice place to be 😢
Truck looks good sounds unbelievable I can never get enough of the hellkota you are inspiring me to get my 1998 dakota out of the garage it's been in storage since 2000
Yo bro you have done a superb job on that swap!!! Kudos to your finesse in making the hellcat instruments n dash n steering wheel to work out in your favor... Looks like it came that way from the factory.... Excellent skills brotha...
As a previous owner of a 2nd Gen Dodge Dakota. I love what you did with the interior of this R/T. The engine and all is amazing, and got to say it's sad that Dodge never made a Hell Cat Dakota. There are a lot of fans of this gen of Dakota's, hope they find there way to your channel.
I used to have one of those…not the hellcat, but a 03 Dakota R/T single cab, short bed. I miss that truck. Terrible on gas mileage, but was amazing to drive.
That's a dream neighborhood 😍 and truck. I was at Moparty and saw you but you were busy talking to other ppl and I didn't want to interfere. But live your trucks brother. Wish I could afford to build one. God bless you and your family.
This is dope. Only shows me why dakotas are slept on 😂 I’m currently working on an eco diesel swap too my 2005 Dakota. Picking up some Dodge Ram 1500 axles tomorrow and I’m going too do an axle swap for some extra aftermarket support
Man I miss seeing the Hellkota. Looks like, from previous vids, you haven't had much luck finding a place. You still considering Arizona area? Well good luck, glad your still putting content out for us. I'm anxiously waiting for more stuff with ole blue lol 👍✌🤘😎🤘
Just found the channel recently and caught up, absolutely impressive work. It has me intrigued for a hellcat swap on my charger I have a 5.7 Daytona. Been reading some forums and looking at auctions of damaged/wrecked hellcats and my question is once you acquire the complete set of components are there any shops in the nyc/nj/pa that have experience with a hellcat swap?
Low this truck remember when he dropped the engine in and there was no interior at all and now this thing is freaking beautiful! Great job man! I bet that was a shit ton of time and effort good on you 👌
It's looking good Jon...just bought a house so I had to put mine on back burner for a bit because of the move...but when spring starts up I want to get back to it and get my firewall all welded up and heater box mounted ECT. Still looking for the list of materials you used on the fuel system like I said the video don't have it in the description
Nice now you can rack up speeding tickets because the speedometer don't work ..I still get a woody when I hear that whine excellent job more love than shade
Please make a video on the rear disc break conversion!!!! Questions I have for the disc breaks- 1. Where do I buy the stuff to do it 2. How do I do it 3. How much does it cost to do it 4. Do you have to do your own fabrication to make it work? If so what?
Amazon sells a nice set of headlights for 80 bucks I just didn't hook up my side marker they look the same but all clear black housing nice headlights for the money I've had them for almost 2 years still look brand new
I desperately need the links to the headlights and the drop kit, lol. Mines already dropped, but I feel like the previous owner cut the springs and took some leave springs out.
Sorry I haven’t commented in a while. Life gets in the way and I don’t get time to do much but just want to say damn I love the Dakota. So beautiful and damn it’s bad ass!!!! It sounds so good!
You said pilot point, little town out in the middle of nowhere. I was like hey! Its not in the middle of nowhere i live like 10-15 min maybe even closer haha
