I own the same car in silver too, wish we had colder weather here. The boost in the snow must be lovely! This car cured my sickness of buying cars. I no longer shop for cars, its the best ever made.
Sold my 996 Turbo--- Bought bmw m4 - now i'm debating between 997 Turbo or GT-R--- May need to wait a year or two! - love the wheels, one bad ass car for sure!
I was looking at both the gtr and 997.1 turbo. They feel drastically different. I went 997.1 turbo. I preferred the experience and feel of the car. Plus they are rising in value which is a bonus
@@sutherlacd27 gtr holds in value too. But I'm willing to keep it forever. For mid 60k you can get 997 6spd. Also that get you low miles GT-R. Which is hella quick of the line with just bolt ons. More trunk space and backseats for my son. But I think 997 6spd would be fun to own in a long run...and less headache as the motors and trans are pretty bullet proof.
Can you comment more on the driving experience? These things have come up a lot in value since this video. Any opinion on other cars that may be better value for the money?
After you get a feel for it, I'd be interested to see you drive a 997.2 TT with PDK. It would just be interesting to hear your thoughts. Oh and congrats!!
If you want to do street cruising, love straight line speed, and or like modifying your cars go with the 997 turbo. If you are planning on more track days go with the gt4
Dude everything sounds sooo cool bro I have 997.1 turbo 2008 and planning to tune on that hp what tunes have you undergoed and for the exhaust? Do u use ecu tune or using bigger turbos?
Pending on the emissions where you live you can get a 3" catless xpipe exhaust from Freddy Lewis for like $1500. Has resonators and anti drone tubes so that you don't have any drone in the car. Car screams outside though. I believe his catted exhaust costs about $1800. On the 997.1 turbo intercoolers are a must have upgrade if you want to run more boost for any period of time. I recommend markski intercoolers. But on a budget the 997.2 turbo/gt2 intercoolers are a good upgrade. A markski tune (he does remote tuning) with those mods are good for 100+hp gain. He also does tcu tuning if you have an auto. If you want more power add a set of 63.5mm or 65mm turbos, injectors, and e85 or do meth injection with 100 octane fuel and all that together will be the max that the stock rods can handle which is in the 700-800hp range. One step cooler plugs (ngk 4853 gapped at 0.026) are recommended with upgraded intercoolers, exhaust, and tune. A set of turbo intake tubes can help a little bit if you do the turbo upgrade.

yah the motors are pretty bulletproof and will def do over 100K miles with ease... only real achilles heel is the plastic coolant pipes that will eventually go, just a matter of when. The replacement part is relatively small and cheap but it requires a lot of $ervice time so is a bit costly... but at least its not a top engine (or full!) rebuild that all NA 993s will have to do...all in all, the 997 (especially the turbo) is probably the perfect blend of classic car appeal with modern speed that's relatively cheap to maintain and very dependable.
Why am I poor.... Why do I care about not having any debt hahaha. It's gonna be worth it in the long run when I buy my dream 997 turbo cash with no worries in the world.
