my Heart goes out to you all in Barbados and the Caribbean islands, We have many friends in Barbados and we are so concerned for their safety, but we have had news that they are all OK , God bless you all , Take care lots of Love, thanks for doing this video PT
I was a young schoolgirl at Codrington in the early 1950s when a bad hurricane hit. They had us sit under sturdy tables. It was all sugarcane fields back then. I have wonderful memories of Barbados, although I hated the school. Thank you.
I attended CHS in the 70s and I loved it: all the old teachers Miss Bourne, Ms. Army ,Ms Sims , Riley etc were lovely. Sorry to hear you had a bad experience Mam.
Thank you so much for your commentary. I'm a TriniBajan (I'm a born Trini) my mother was originally from Fairfield Road St Michael and your tour brought back such wonderful memories of times that I would visit Barbados.....i even experienced Hurricane Allen over there I think in the 1980s.... May God continue to Bless our islands because we know that God is not just a Trini or Bajan, He is a West Indian!! I look forward to your next video. Thanks 🇹🇹❤️🇧🇧
Hello D&J Drives, Thank you for taking such a challenge to go driving so soon after the hurricane. It was nice you took a drive through Dover & the St. Lawrence areas, which is where I grew up. Very thankful to see there was minimal damage. God is good all the time. Thank you so very much for sharing. God bless and please be careful.
Thank you for your drive! I have just watched a video of Petit Martinique in Granada and was aghast at the damage wrought on the poor people of the island. Nothing is standing - nearly all the roofs blown off - and not a leaf to be seen. I love Barbados and am relieved that you 'escaped' the worst. Thoughts are with the fishermen.
I have enjoyed your footage immensely. I live in Boston Massachusetts and your video gave me an incredible insight of the severity of the hurricane. Thanks.
I found this video very interesting. For the record, I have been living in Barbados since 2001. I was here for Ivan, Thomas and Elsa. This video is simply someone driving around in a car, not actually observing what was happening at the ocean. That was where the seirous stuff was happening. One major takeaway for me was how many vechiles had their brakelights not working. God is a Bajan! 9^)
Prayers for all be safe and thank you for showing the aftermath not as bad as carricou and petit Martinique and waiting to help much love from the states
Thank you for sharing this very well done informative video of the aftermath Hurricane Beryl did on your Beautiful Island Barbados ,, watching it from Florida USA ,, May God's blessing be with the people that This terrible storm has impacted,,🙏
Thanks for the video. I’m from Christ Church and I was glad to see the wall by my old school (Foundation) still standing. I’m watching from Miramar, Florida.
Thank you, D&J Drives. You've shown us a beautiful island turned upside down. "Highway 7 looks pretty beaten up. The best of luck toward a prompt recovery.
I am a new subscriber. My Aunty sent me this video. Thank you for this video. My father lives in Chirst church as well as other family members. I live in NYC, but BIM is my second home. I'm praying for all those in the fishing industry who lost everything 🙏🏽..
Excellent job taking this video.I still in my bed viewing. You sound like former Dennis Johnson from VOB. Thanks god no one got hurt. We now has to pray for our brothers sisters both on the island and the rest of islands. God bless you for a job well done.
Thank you for your time. Very informative..because i haven't been home in 2yrs, i didn't realize there's a parking lot for Bay Garden, Oistins. It look real nice. I pray all the Fisher folks get help to continue in their trade. We need them. Food and Pleasure. Glad no life lost.God bless everyone, give thanks for the safety net around my homeland, Barbados!🙏💕
2:52 Just a small correction Beryl got to 140 mph as a category 4 to the south east of Barbados on June 30th and then went through an eyewall replacement, weakened back to a 120 mph cat 3 and then exploded into a 150 mph Category 4 again while it was making landfall on Caricou in the Grenadines , Beryl only reached category 5 status after passing through the windwards 😅, however the mighty damage has been done to all those in the Grenadines sadly. I appreciate the video a lot as it shows what a powerful hurricane is capable of even when not so close to our shores, 15:12 Never seen Oistins look like that!
D.J. DRIVE THANKS FOR SUCH INFORMATIVE HIGHLIGHTS 😮MY CONDOLENCES GOES OUT TO EACH AND EVERY ONE WHO HAS BEEN AFFECTED,STILL WORRYING 😔 BECAUSE ITS HEADING TO MY ISLAND OF JAMAICA 🇯🇲 BY WEDNESDAY SO WE ALL ARE HOPING FOR THE BEST RESULTS AGAIN MUCH APPRECIATED.👍.
Your video is enjoyable and thanks for uploading your drive-around. God is def not a Bajan. God has many people who have faith in Him and lift the island up in a lot of prayers.
It is just a joke, because the island is spared, many times from a major hurricane hit. Barbadians know God loves all his children. Even the sandpaper ones🙏🙌💕😍
Special thanks for the video report, it´s well commented and could see clearly the actual situation of impact done by Hurricane Beryl, I am not from Barbados, however, I belong to an island in the Carobbean as well, I could feel and understand the feeling presented and was here praying you may recover the damages as soon as possible, Keep the faith, God is in control of every thing, in Jesus Name.
We must also give prayers for those on Caracou off Grenada. The island is destroyed, that was a category 5 that hit that island. Barbados must give thanks and hope the other storm following Beryl do not impact the island. All prayers to those on other islanders.
@@annlewis7685Barbadians are very religious people. It's only the younger generation that follow the devil's works. Were always praying and giving thanks to the Almighty. ⛪🙏
I wish people would stop using that ignorant statement...God is a bajan. How do you think it makes people from a totally devastated island or country feel? It's an unnecessary comment.
Caracou has been devastated and everyone in that island has lost everything, homes, businesses. Even one of the churches flatten.. Prayers for all the neighbouring islands and islanders.
It looks like Barbados survived quite well. There was minor damage and some inconveniences, which should be restored soon. Y'all were indeed blessed. GG Texas.
The awesome God pitied Barbados, on behalf of the good work that the leader has done, how she stood fearlessly on all her journeys to speak out for rights and justice.
Barbados was not impacted directly as the eye was miles away. Imagine what would have happened had it passed closer. We hope no lives were lost over there
Goes to show we can't take a direct hit from a hurricane. Other videos of the sea surge had my daughter asking if we're having a tsunami and she was scared. My heart ache for what happened to our Caribbean families and the devasting blows they took (and will be taking) from Hurricane Beryl.
Roofs are on homes, no trees down, not much in flooding, signage still standing.... ......think Barbados escaped the real fury ........watched half of the video, just see angry sea.....
Hi D & J Drives! First of all you make amazing videos, keep it up and you have all my support! My name is Camila and I'm from the Argentinian news agency LANA. We are doing a report about the hurricane Beryl and we want to ask you if we can use a few seconds of your video (with the correct credit/source of D & J Drives as appropriate, and a link to your channel). Thanks in advance and please keep up the amazing videos!! Big hugs and stay safe!
Thanks for your support. You're welcome to use our footage once the appreciate link is made to the channel and it's not used for anything negative or illicit.
"Nothing new under the sun " it took that to bring it all back. Please check the history of the area. That was the main reason for the infrastructure work that was done many years ago on Welch's Christ Church.
Mr, take a trip to carriacou and do some real reporting!! Barbados got away without much damage go and give God thanks. Prepare yourself to help carriacou.
My goodness. Why such venom? He is not a "reporter". He is someone who leaves home for drives and does some vlogging. This is simply an honest first look on his part. In no way does it minimise anything which subsequently took place in Union Is., Carriacou or elsewhere! He literally did this an hour after the "all clear" was given.
I am quite certain folks in most countries at some point declare something about their nation or people in a similar manner. For example Jamaicans put Jamaica before everything: Jamaican oxtail, pattie etc.
It has nothing to do with God being a Bajan. I hate to hear that nonsense. It has to do with geographical location and how hurricanes usually form and the path they usually travel which places the island a little outside the path.
So true. We love our island and were glad that we were spared this time, but praying for our neighbors in all the different islands. I am sure Barbadians will do what we do best help everyone in need. Our politicians have already planing to send police and guards to help plus food, water, clothing. We never leave our neighbors without and we are praying earnestly for peace that will calm the spirits of the people. Love you all. You are NoT alone. God is with you.
A lot of Bajans like to say "God is a Bajan" Really?. Some who may not not know better may say so but certainly not the majority. God is merciful to all His children every where on this planet. He is no respecter of persons.
Call Hillary... she has extra cash left over from Haiti... Call Bill.. and he can arrange an exchange of monies.. You get some.. and Hillary get the rest.. hahahah
Just think if you hadn’t have left the Commonwealth you would have been entitled to Over £10 billion pounds in emergency funding for repairs to your infrastructure…. Never mind enjoy your so called independence….😂 Jamaica , Turks and Caicos , Virgin Islands, are all excepting emergency aid and funding, the Royal Navy and Airforce is on the way, 😊
Being spared the full wrath despite having prepped for the worst is sensible, NOT alarmist. The damage done by a couple "feeder bands" having dropped further south and weakened slightly, should give you an idea how much worse things could really be. But God! Remember 40+ houses are lost, numerous damaged and over 300 are in shelters. Fishing fleet has been hit hard as well.
