Know this town well. On November 09, 1975, I drank several beers on the football field behind the Memorial Field House (first big brick building you passed, on right after circle). On July 18, 1694, my ancestors were attacked by the Wabanaki Confederacy, where three roads meet that take you to Newmarket (right) or Dover (left); this is if you had stayed straight at end of Main St, instead of going left, circling back behind Main. The natives were sick & tired of us Englishmen stealing their hunting grounds. Some of us were killed, some taken hostage, but most of my clan fended off the "savages" during the Oyster River Massacre. I learned of this early family history decades after the four years I spent at UNH.
