I still love driving in the Philippines more than the US. In the US most drivers only look in the front, they are mostly unaware of their surroundings and that is why there is a lot of accidents here everyday.
Dude I am Filipino descent and visit there twice I give kudos to you bro! The traffics there is insane! It makes no sense! I found your video to show others how bad it is. My cousin who live there hate to go anywhere because it’s so stressful to drive! Thanks for the video!
I got pulled over there last year along Taft Avenue on a short visit for lane swerving and the 2 Manila traffic enforcers let me go after showing them my California license. They told me to be careful next time and smile and apologized for wasting my time. You're totally right, just enjoy your time there and have a lot of patience doing things. The government offices can have long crazy lines and people there don't get paid much so bringing down your expectation helps a lot. Try to meet more locals, you'll learn a lot from them.
Nice video, i think you can now easily drive in India 🇮🇳 cause from the video it's same as the driving conditions in India 😁 may be you can introduce us to Philippines driving rules and regulations not on the books but practically followed by the Filipinos. Best wishes for your new videos 👍
Hello Abram! Just found your vlog and watched your traffic video. Yes, I made the same experience some weeks ago when I was on vacation. Fortunately I didn't have to drive but my Filipina girlfriend. And during these weeks I learned *a lot*! The Filipinos are the most friendly and careful drivers I have ever seen! It's not their access to be somewhere as fast as possible at all costs but to reach their target safely and take care of the other people. Many Filipinos start their journey with a prayer before starting the engine. They thank God for everything he has done for them and the family so far and then ask for a safe travel. Of course also asking God to protect the car from malfunctioning or or breakdown. Then they start carefully. When moving into heavy traffic they use to operate the car's horn to ask the other drivers for extra care. That's so different compared to most of the other countries I've been as usually blowing the horn means "go away stupid it's my turn and my right!". An additional reason for driving carefully is of course also the state of many streets which is a result of lack of funds plus extreme weather conditions (lots of rain, mud, underminings, potholes,...). Nobody can afford to damage the car nor risk health. And that's good! Finally: try to spend some time in Manila. If you master this you'll master everything! :)
Great video. I sent it to friends and family in the US so they can see what I'm talking about. I'll be on four wheels before long as we are looking at vehicles right now. Currently have an e-trike and a Honda 150cc enduro bike. I'm experiencing the same mayhem but on a smaller scale here in Cavite on the bike.
Much appreciated! Plenty more videos to come. I feel much safer in a car than on a motorbike. It’s nice to be able to bring more people at once or transport stuff you buy easier. The major downside is you’ll reach your destination much slower in a car than on a bike
Hahahaha Yes, filipino time is real. And, it's worse than Microsoft time. I would suggest learning the peak hours that gets MORE than crazy here. Not just in Manila, either. Anywhere in Metro Manila has peak times such as mornings approx 6-8:30 for school kids and workers, lunch times approx 11:45-2 and early evenings approx 5-7:30. These times are what I have observed anyway. Christmas times are even more crazy and it's traffic all day long, so like you said, relax and keep yourself amused because that road rage thing everyone has back in the states doesn't go real well here. If you find yourself stressed driving here, take a trike, jeepney, or bus and sit back to relax.
I can relate and agree to everything you said! I'm 100% Filipino, born in the USA, now living (and driving) in the Philippines, except for Metro Manila 😆😆
Subbed and binged on your videos. Would really love tips on how to set up a life with how many kids you have. Most of the vloggers I follow are smaller families or couples. I plan on moving there this year or so with the whole family. Thanks!
Glad to have you here! Yeah i'm literally just figuring it out as i go LOL but it's all good. Hopefully others can learn from me and make the process much easier on them 😅
Merging into American highway is scarier because of the speed of the traffic, fatalities are more likely. Merging in the Philippine traffic is crazy but because of the traffic and slow pace, it's less likely that somebody dies. You have to feel the flow, look at the other diver or assertiveness of the other driver. Sometimes I'm in a hurry, I am more assertive, and get my way into traffic, sometimes, I feel more giving or feel the other party more assertive and give way.
yeah totally agree, driving in the Philippines really isn't that hard because you very rarely, if ever, go over 30mph(50km/h). In the US that's the speed you when you drive past homes. On the highway in the US it's common to go 50-70mph(115km/h) The people on motorbikes are the scariest thing for me still
Wow you went from 20views to 11k congratulations! 🥳 Yeah floods are common and there aren't enough waiting sheds and sidewalks specially in the rural areas but the people are quite approachable and friendly. Welcome to PH and by any chance, does your Fambam live around Rizal?
Thank you and Yep! About an hour from Manila. We didn’t wanna live out in province without modern amenities but didn’t wanna pay crazy prices to live somewhere nice. I feel like we got a great balance here.
@@abramsphilippinevlog I'm guessing Taytay/Cainta -Hello neighbors if yeah. 🤣 Traffic in Ortigas, Edsa and Imelda ave is horrible. I suggest to avoid being on the road during the rush hours(around 5am-10am and 5pm-10pm). Whenever I get off work during those hours, I just hang around the mall or café to let the traffic pass by and just have a good time. 😅
More driving po in Metro Manila or anywhere in the Philippines 😊so we can learn the differences of howthe way they drive there, their traffic rules and regulations.. the situations.. comparison..Pris and cons..and even tips for newbies driving 🎉more vlogs po thank you
I won't drive here; they are crazy drivers and i have enough anxiety as it is...lol...here in Angeles City is pretty bad traffic. You have the gift of gab, you are very good at conveying the message across, and the good looks helps alot. :)
i arrive here in the US just recently and i still got the filipino driving mentality. for the 2 weeks of me driving here. i got 4 horns and 2 blinkers. haha. its really different here. you should yield and stop not like in the Philippines. also the turn left on yellow blinking lights and right turn on red signal is crazzyyy. hahha
I feel like I’m getting used to it pretty fast because I’m driving everyday. The anxiety is still high though. I can feel the adrenaline every time I drive 🤣
As a foreigner I agree, it does help to have some one with you who knows the roads especially in metro Manila. Waze will often let you drive in circles or one way roads. Just having your English license converted into a Filipino one isn't just as easy like that. I believe you need a valid visa of atleast 3 or 6 months right now? It used to be 1 year valid visa 5/6 years ago, making it almost impossible. After driving here for some time you do get used to how 90% of the comote drivers drive. You will know exactly which pick up truck will try to sneak in or pass on the emergency lane to get a head start for example.
PS, change your channel name to "Abrams Philippines Adventure Channel, it will help alot with viewers anf Filipinos finding your Channel as well, especially when people searching Philippines.
A sense of humor goes a long way in the Philippines. Why stress with something you have no control over? Btw, if you survive driving here, you'll survive anywhere.
I can tell you you don’t have anxiety and seems a happy person bec you oassed the driving test there 😁 We live in an opposite life as a Pinoy here in US always carefull that someody will rear end me bec someone not paying attention on road which accident happened a lot in the city. my wife got rear ended last few months ago with her 17yrs old crv and luckily nobody get harm and it happened in regular small town road who not paying attention in the road when car in front stop.Luckily the SUV still working and totaled by others insurance and git $6k and able still to use due to some back damage and cosmetic only. And yet in Phil driving like crazy and yet nobody get into accident. You will definitely become linoy by heart later on adopting our culture. 😜
bruh, I'm born in the Philippines, but I'm not from Manila/Luzon and driving there is rigorous, too strict, traffic, no exceptions, unlike Cebu kinda traffic, but not that strict and you can talk out the cops/enforcers
For the Filipino citizen. How to obtain a driving licence, how much does it cost and how long does it take to obtain a driving licence? With this driver's license, can a Filipino citizen open an international account at AUB Bank? How many years does a driving license expire?
the drivers are not even using a signal light if they are changing lanes from the left or the right that is why they are always accidents most of them don't follow the rules they make their own rule. When they are on the streets they don't give way to others and even if someone is crossing in the pedestrian lane they don't even stop they don't even wait until the pedestrian has crossed to the other side of the street and they still keep driving no discipline at all not unlike in North America we give way to each other we follow the rules we let the pedestrian cross the street and Bus had a time schedule departing and arriving and stop at the bus stop. In the Philippines buses and jeepneys, they stop everywhere which gives traffic. I notice about the road they don't have enough traffic lights or traffic control as well
😂 truly very different. It’s defensive driving. You’re right, it’s normal to us.. after I migrated to the U.S. and then years later, visited the Philippines, it’s like riding a bike, I get automatically switched into Philippine driving😅
have you seen how people drive in india? 😂 very chaotic... lots of people in the street, animals on the street, noisy cars and constant beeping, vendors, victims of hit and run etc...
they are sold everywhere here in the Philippines, you can find them on facebook and they'll come to your house to install it even. You can also get a 360 camera installed with it to help with parking in tight spots.
Now, wait a minute. You said that the traffic ain't that bad. Right? I've been out to the Philippines a few times, and I will never drive in Manila, not in less I drive a Tank.
As a Filipino, I hate driving in manila but driving in provincial road is better and relaxing but tricycle drivers are always in the fast lane always honk if you overtake them because sometimes they swerve without using their signal light.
for me driving in italy is the 1 most crazies place. 1. they are more aggressive drivers, 2 a lot of violation, 3 parking space, 4 also traffic in the cities no u turn like in the philippines you must go in the right way to U turn or else you will pay violation 5 police active, 6 so many camera after a days will come to your home a ticket to pay a lot of violation if you dont pay your license will be banned. 7 you cannot stay in the left way because the left way only for passing. 8 a lot of restrict zone if you mistake to enter that place you will pay ticket again and again. 9 scooter is more in italy than philippines. the only worst in the philippines is a corrupt mmda!! but in italy mmda dont accept money if you give money mmda in italy they will bring you in jail !
