It's crazy when you think. With all it's oil and gas, minerals and rich agricultural potential most of Nigeria and Ghana would probably look like this if it wasn't for the bad leadership, corruption, and over crowding.
The oil is largely why Nigeria is corrupt. It let's the government depend on it, and it flows out of the ground whether the people work hard or not, or even can work or not. A small number of contractors from oversees, happy to take the oil for a royalty, pays the army and the parliament, and while they might have some extra goals, their primary job is done, all they have to do is think about what other actions might lead to the most benefit to themselves.
@@zawadix9574 Kenya, Egypt, Morocco, etc have very little white people and excellent roads, so clearly that's not it. Eastern Europe is nothing but white people and the roads over there are arguably worse than roads in Africa.
This is not an African highway, this is a South African highway. Africa is not a country, and you will be pretty disappointed if you expect roads like this in all African countries.
These freeways are in much better shape than the endless litany of potholes I have to drive over every single day, all over the San Francisco Bay Area. Thanks for posting this; been trying to find some quality South African driving videos for awhile now.
FreewayBrent: I got in the mood to check out some South African road videos after seeing your picture post in the FreewayJim group a moment ago and realizing, "hey we haven't seen much stuff from there in the group" :-D
Nice drive there mate. Take a drive along the bumpy Parramatta Rd, Pacific H/Way from Chartswood to Hornsby, Princes H/way from Newtown to Engadine, M4 and M5. It's a headance and pick hour is the worst.
@@aussy78 ehh don’t think so, they used to be so good in South Africa. Australia had better drivers, cars and safety measures by far. In South Africa my mom drove 180 km/h to the mall on the freeway with her sisters. My dad nearly 250 km/h, now South Africa has very very bad roads and they aren’t well maintained. Only recently would they have been made better. Australian roads are the best imo.
What time was this ? I have never seen any highway around Jo'burg this empty . Hell traffic reports start coming in from 5.00am and these are to help get to work on time . We have accidents on every section of highway around Jo'burg . I live in South of Jo'burg and believe me great place to live but traffic a nightmare mornings & evening rush hour .
N3 stands for "National" road 3 (N=National). He started on the M1, which means "Metropolian" road 1 (M=Metropolitan). The N3 connects to other parts of South Africa, therefore it is a national road, whereas the Metropolitan roads connect the national road around Johannesburg.
@@eddiehosa If you really lived in the USA you would know that I speak the truth. American freeways on the West coast have 4 lanes going in each direction. Ever driven I-5 San Diego to Seattle ? Ever driven the I -10 ? The I -95 turnpike on the East coast has three lanes in each direction for over 2000 miles . Stop trying to compare SA roads with USA. USA roads are superior. That is a fact. And you know it. I lived in South Africa for over 30 years. Some roads are good. The rest are not. That is one of the reasons we left South Africa. Country with one of the highest road deaths in the world. Fact. Bad roads and bad drivers. You have filmed the 5% of the good roads.
Why would a video about driving show poverty, crime, and slums? And the areas he is driving in are not even slums or poverty areas. Try a better comment.
