Only people that have never experienced winter tires say they aren't needed. They transform any vehicle into a snow machine. There is absolutely no comparison for safety and go anywhere performance. All the FWD, 4WD, antilock brakes, and traction control can't do anything if you no grip.
***** it depends on the size of the wheels, my tyres only cost 126 pounds for all four. They Last about three or four years if swapped every six months so you save money on summer tyres too.
***** I can think of many things that are worth that amount for one week's time. "Wink, Wink".... But staying on topic - The terms "Safety & Performance" Are Not always interchangeable with "Inexpensive or Free". Also, if the traction afforded by good winter tires prevents just one accident, it turns out to be the Inexpensive route after all.
Azureecosse Your Bollocks. I don't use winter tires because I'm scared or overly safety conscious or any of your other stupid statements. I use them for the performance they offer, and if you brits are too stupid to make up your own minds as to weather you need them or not there's nothing I can do about it. And leave my underwear out of it thank you very much......Cheerio pip pip and all that sort of rot.
Exactly . winter tyres are for winter - that is for the snow and the cold weather (below 7C) and all these people going on about snow tyres...snow tyres are winter tyres. I feel safer now when going out in the winter months with them on. I'm glad you understand.
Bingo...at last someone who knows what they are on a about well done, agree totally, Winter tyres ( have the Mountain + Snowflake ) on the sidewall are for Snow/Ice/Slush/Rain/Frost +Dry roads when temps go below +7oC , the amount of people who say "But they're just for snow ain't they?" when I advise them to invest in a set of Winter Tyres for the winter here in the UK , my current set are Vredstein Snowtrac3 ...excellent tyres on my 1.7dti Vauxhall Astra.
@trident3b Some people have no option but to drive in heavy snow. I live in the middle of nowhere in the North of Ireland. If you couldn't drive, you'd starve at home or get fired from your job.
It only snows here once every 2-3 years.... Buying snow tires is pointless and a waste of money here. But people still need to go to work those few times it does snow.
Will you people learn the difference between snow and winter tyres - Sickspeed- Winter for all winter conditions i.e. cold, wet slush and snow...Snow..specifically for snow. See it's easy.
Haha holy shit I only just realised this is in glasgow and remember where the hill is - all I can say is - HE MUST BE FUCKING MAD, because that's one extremely steep hill!!
Fuck that shit... I know this hill in Glasgow, and I hate goin down it even in hot sunny weather... fuck snow! I would camp in my car until it had melted lmao!
The camera doesn't really do justice to how steep that hill is. I do use Winter tyres but even with them I'd take it easy on that street in those conditions. You'd have to be a bit of an arse to to even attempt it on Summers.
@MrScootmcg in this kind of conditions going oon any street is a suicide or murder attempt, that being said i've done it too and not proud of it ... was fun tho...
Utter garbage, winter tyres aren''t just for snow, they give far far better grip in cold and rain too. Plus we have had a lot of snow in the last 4 years.
