It was a fun and sunshiny drive to the very popular Scarborough Beach! This footage was taken on a very sunny winter afternoon in Perth and shows some of Perth's busiest roads and not-so-busy ones through a few leafy neighbourhoods in the western suburbs, "north of the river".
I started from Northbridge, then through to the western suburbs of Wembley and Innaloo. Going back, I took a detour on Brighton Road, then exited to Scarborough Beach Road to reach Mitchell Freeway going to the City.
Enjoy!
TIMELINE
00:07 Let's get started!
01:09 Crossing Fitzgerald
01:33 Newcastle and Charles
02:10 Almost missing the turn to Loftus St! Yikes!
03:00 Turning towards Cambridge Street
03:33 This is where you make a right turn to reach the highway, but we're not going there
04:25 Hey it's my favourite Transperth bus route because it empties halfway through
05:18 Nothing much here, but keep watching since you're driving past one of Perth's largest hospitals
05:44 I think I spotted an Art Deco building
06:07 Is that a heritage listed house, or just an old one?
06:58 This IGA is open 24/7 in case you run out of TP in the middle of the night
07:05 How much do we pay for petrol in June 2022?
07:14 The Wembley Strip makes living in this neighbourhood so convenient. Also ups the price of houses, methink!
08:37 Whenever I drive on this street I think, "Well, these guys are decidedly middle class!" And that's not so bad.
08:51 Hmmm... that cycling path looks fresh...
09:11 Grantham is where you make a right turn to reach a fabulous lake. But we're driving straight in favour of the dog-friendly park!
09:52 Start of Pearson Street. Speed limit: 60KPH, then 70 thereafter.
11:26 My driving instructor told me that if you missed your turn, find the next one and then work your way back.
11:50 The name's Stevo. Stevo Avenue!
12:30 On the right direction! Scarborough Beach...Road!
13:06 Watch out for the merging lanes! Zippity Zip!
13:32 This must be Karrinyup (Karr-een-up!)? Or Doubleview?
14:34 If you look close enough, you can see the Indian Ocean!
16:31 Queuing for SB
16:51 Entering the Scarborough Beach area -- good luck finding a parking spot!
17:16 Enjoy the drive-through! You'll see the ocean on the left whilst on the right is maybe where'd you'd book a room if you were coming somewhere else.
18:45 Dad of the Year
19:37 By this time you should know that this video is about navigating roundabouts #driving lessons
21:10 Finding our way back to Perth through Brighton Road.
21:56 I'm not sure about the speed limit, so when in doubt, stick to 50. KPH. Metric system rules!
22:01 Ah there's a house that's shaped like ours and one that looks mid-century modern, Aussie ed.
22:34 This is how you name a cafe right, y'all!
22:43 This street was misspelled on Google Maps.
22:55 Perth's most complicated roundabout
24:00 I'm back on the right path. I really meant to take Scarborough Beach on the way back, but I wasn't sure I could manage a right turn from West Coast Highway.
25:16 Remember to give the "L" peeps lots of space. Everybody starts somewhere.
25:49 Where to eat and shop in Innaloo. Also, free parking spaces!
26:26 Big...box...stores!
27:43 Leaving Scarborough Beach Road
29:13 Yo! Where's the freeway at?!
30:45 Looks like everyone is driving to the City because CPP parking is free! iLike!
31:13 My camera is running out of juice, but please watch 'til the end. TYVM from the bottom of my heart.
