A few years ago I drive up there and it was a truly horrific trip. Never again. Very narrow, winding road with few detours, fragmented road edge, missing barrier at many places ... with two way traffic, with random walking cows and horses, etc-etc. Just as I arrived in the hilltop parking lot i saw a car with 5 person and those guys played the rock-paper-scissors game with great effort. Then one of them lost: he became the driver for the downwards. Poor guy ... his hands were shaking and he begged cigarettes from everyone. And the other four? They took out a very large bottle of vodka and drank it urgently. Well .. Sv. Jure by car is such an experience.
I've just driven up there today in a hire car whilst on holiday and to be fair, it's pretty terrifying. You need to be a confident driver. It is a two way road on a single track with a sheer drop on one side. The views are incredible though.
