My great grandfather grew up in Drogheda before moving to Dublin as a boiler maker with the railways. Have not visited from Australia…..must do so next time I’m in Ireland
I've been to Ireland 3 times, and Drogheda town center pulls me in. It's as if i lived there before in another lifetime! Fond memories. The museum on the hill is amazing! I made the mistake of driving down the wrong road, a steep downhill one. There was no outlet, and we were left with no option but to back up. There I was, a Yank, using the steering wheel, and everything on the opposite side of my muscle memory, barrelling it, in a manual transmission, back up. The locals were standing about, waiting to see how I would do it! 😂 My mother laughed with them about them getting entertainment from watching fools like us in this predicament. 😂 I was extremely successful, and they applauded us when we got to the top. Made this 50% Irish American feel at home! ❤ Katy Brady relatives in Killeshandra, whoever you are, I'm looking for you! ☘️🇮🇪
😆 haha..nice try...Imagine still fresh from you mind..Drogheda would keep it alive till River Boyne runs dry..Everyone of us has something to talk about this beautiful town..I'm forever grateful..my story and my family life flourished here..I loved this town so well.. ❤️
