I'm often asked about the drone job deliverables we provide to our clients. Often drone pilots think that deliverables are all about Photogrammetry. Not so. If you think beyond mapping and modeling, what else can you deliver to your clients? Video, Time Lapse Video, Still Images, Time Lapse Stills, 360 Tours, Structure Fly Throughs, and more. Another point is that your set of potential deliverables is fairly unique in terms of the number/breadth of options. Not being focused on just orthos or models or 360s etc means you can meet the needs of more potential clients. That's almost always a good thing.

We've found that once we show clients the other tools we offer, they expand their requests to include those tools. I literally received a call yesterday on another project that the clients want to expand their scope of work on. Basically they just doubled our payment for each visit. I'm currently making a new mock up web page for them to show how we can address their additional request.

Sketchfab's maximum file upload size is 500 MB. Do you compress your 3d models somehow? Seems the projects seen in this video are quite large.

In Metashape there are ways to reduce file size. For some of my models I end up doing a Decimate Mesh under tools. There you can alter the target face count to reduce the size. Usually on these models I set it to 3000000

What about 3D model deliverables without breaking the bank?

We use WebODM and Metashape for many of our models. WebODM generates good Orthomosaic models for our clients. And Metashape can create some really good 3D Models. Metashape standard edition allows you to create 3D models. It's $179 for a desktop installation. You will not be able to create measurable 3D models with it, but you will be able to produce 3D models that can be used as a good visual representation of your job site. After creating a 3D Model with Metashape standard we can upload it to Sketchfab for online viewing and embedding into your own website. Sketchfab offers several levels of service for sharing your models, and you won't break the bank. 😀
