How to fish California Halibut from the beach? Casting a jerkbait would be the most popular. but in this video, I would show you how to surf fish California Halibut using a drop shot rig.
Drop shot for California Halibut is very popular. I can see many anglers using them. But the drop shot rig I show you in this video has branch lines. It looks like a high-low rig (maybe the exact same?). This branch-lined drop shot rig can be good when we fish saltwater using a heavyweight. The branch lines would help lures naturally drift in the current.

When fishing in California, make sure you have a valid license and follow the regulation.
wildlife.ca.gov/
Make sure to safely release non-keepers.
California Halibut: 22 inches total length.
Calico, Barred Sand Bass, and Spotted Sand Bass: 14 inches total length.

nice technique with the rod while fishing. Most US surf anglers don't think about how important keeping that rod tip high is to success. Nice to see someone demonstrate such a subtle part of the technique.

That is a high low rig. Good technique for catching bottom fish. I just tie a triple surgeons knot with a big loop. You can then cut one end of the loop and tie the hook on or just thread the hook on the loop. Some good fishing out there. 👍

Looks like a very effective rig. It seems like some days it's mostly small ones biting. At least to me it seems that way sometimes. I use a similar rig when I'm trying to catch bait off the bottom when they're in deep water. :)

バス釣りの応用で釣る！を、ひとつのテーマにしてます。条件次第ですが、バスのフィネステクは海でも普通にいけますね。潮が早くなってくると、どうにもならないのですが、場所と条件次第では、サーフでネコリグ！とかもやってみたいです。釣侍Tは、Gamakatsuのシャツなんですが、良いですよね。これ。

Hello Mr. Waki, this technique is suitable to use in the rocky bottom? I am planning to use this rig to catch grouper in my area. What do you think?

It would depend on how rocky the spot is but I think Texas rig or Jig rig would be better to avoid getting snagged. And, in this video, I'm rigging using an eight-knot for branch lines. For grouper, would be better to use a stronger knot. Thank you for the comment. Good luck!
