I always come back to this song every so often, it always brings a smile to my face. Cheers from Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪 and love to all my Irish American brothers and sisters ☘️
Seen them front row in Michigan, yard tix in Michigan, bleacher seats in Boston! Amazing life long memories at their shows! Everyone who sees them with me feels the same! Shower me down with whiskey!
Hope everyone enjoyed yesterday because I did too! I was singing this all early afternoon yesterday and at night, I was partying at my local Irish pub DJ was playing a mixed track of Saint Pat rock songs and this song was one of them. I was thinking this song was not gonna be on the track list, but I’m glad it was.
Im drunk as hell while writing this, but I WANT this song at my funeral. I dont want none of this sappy somber mood bullshit at my funeral. Let my friends tell the stories, good and bad and with a few drinks in their hands. I want them there to give me one last hooraah, not a quiet word for my soul. Give them an open bar and a picture of me in my normal clothes and a real smile, not one of those plastic grins while I sweat in a tuxedo.
thats the only way to go, i got a full bar in my party bus (i got a old RV with enough booze to get a small village wastrd) and if i died tonight id want that bus empty by morning
Why are these guys my favorite band? Because their music is just so fucking great at bringing people together! It does not matter where you are from America, Britain, Australia. Be proud of any small amount of Irish in you! I know I am!
This song reminds me of my Father. Growing up with Irish roots I just love this. People can't understand how I love the bagpipes, but this is an AUTHENTIC IRISH STYLE SONG. THANKS DKM!
First time I ever heard this song was 3 years ago. I was stuck in a winter traffic jam on the E6 highway north of Oslo Norway going to celebrate christmas with my family. I was stressed and angry at the traffic and THIS song came on the radio (I never heard it again on the radio). I blasted full volume and started ''dancing'' behind the wheel.. Thanks DKM for cheering up that crappy situation and for me to discover this band!
In the song rose tatoo, there is a line: 'i saw beauty to the north' then youll notice in the music video they show: 1.celtic cross But then 2. Soke Hyperborean map We are all cousin folk, all nord/celtic/gaelic men; even tho scotsman tho he forgets it!
I love how this has captured a real Irish wake, it really is all about remembering with love, singing, getting drunk and telling funny story's of the person's life. This is how I want sending off.
On st patrics day I went out with my friend too the bar we were drinking needles too say with a little liquid courage he picked a fight with this Irish dude he well got his ass handed too him so I decided to break it up but I guess the dude thought I was gna fight him too so he started swinging at me an I started swinging back after I got dazed he helped me up an thanked me for a good fight an bought me some shots an beer I was like what the hell but we've been friends ever since
I've been a fan of The Murphys for a while but not a huge fan, until I got a chance to see them live in Atlantic City. Anyone that enjoys their music needs to see them live. It was the best concert I have ever attended.
Great Song , Great Video .. Dropkick Murphys is one of the best bands of our times , very good feeling , Irish punk mood , beer taste and a very cute pink hair girl singing the tune! Long Live Dropkick Murphys , Long Live Irish music , cheers from Athens ! We're waiting , please come and play for us here..
These guys are not mainstream but they have the most loyal following! Saw them last night. They were awesome and they mixed new songs with the old, they won't sellout.
This is my favorite song from the Dropkick Murphys. The best band in Boston and the whole United States. And that's not because I'm from Massachusetts either! I have loved Punk Rock since 1980. A lot of you guys probably weren't even born. Back then. I was only 20 years old. Those were the days.
Damn, this is a decade old? I always thought of this as "the new Dropkick Murphys album." I have fond memories of buying it off iTunes the year after I graduated high school without ever reading a review or hearing any tracks on it; Then again, I guess I graduated in 2011, so I guess both this album and I are old.
My childhood chum Big Mikey just passed. Just made it past his 27th birthday on St. Paddy’s day. So now I’m bawling and drinking stout, listing to this one in honor of one of my favorite trouble makers.
Whoever *doesn't* get a smile out of this song - or any other Dropkick Murphys song for that matter - clearly has issues, and can go jump in a hole someplace as far as I'm concerned.
dear god I searched for this song for an hour or so. All I remembered was that it's scottish or irish, that it was kinda cheerful, so I thought it was for a birthday and the last thing I knew was that there were people singing and drinking in a bar. So they're American and it's about funeral? I guess I was a bit off. But so happy I found it, I love this song.
Brian has made the list. "Fallen Heroes" This is a list of very special people that we all hold close and dear to us. We celebrate their lives by going out to a bar after a hard day of work, we drink beer, throw darts, drink more beer and tell stories and anecdotes. We remember them. david.ringweaver@gmail.com if you want to talk, cry, or just remember Brian.
Lost my Mom to Cancer in October 2019, my Aunt 2 months prior August 2019 to advance Parkinson, a cousin to Cancer Spring of 2019 and another Aunt Jan 2019 old age ; she was 94. This song has more relevance than ever.
Back when I was in college, believe it or not I used pop on some Dropkick Murphys and take long naps in the middle of our Student Lounge a leather sofa ...
Me and my mom had.lot of issues but when she passed a year ago I know she would have rathered this than what her family did 😂😂😂 I’ll do my own service for her in good time
Today we would've been celebrating your 35th Birthday and you so loved The Dropkick Murphys. This one's for you, Bestie 💙 Happy 35th Birthday, Carl Purcer
saw these guys 3/14/2012 at the House of Blues on Lansdowne Street, Boston, MA. Incredible, the most enthusiasm I've ever seen from a band or an audience, especially so close to St Paddy's Day and tight under Fenway "Pahk". Best band ever. Could read their set list from where I was standing, my ears bled from the volume, and got to bump fists with my boxing idol the Pride of Lowell Irish Micky Ward. Incredible experience, if you get the chance to see DKM live, DO IT. Erin Go Bragh.
