When they play this song, they allow women to come up on stage to dance. This song is usually followed by "Skinhead on the MBTA" and they allow the men to join the women on stage. They put on a hell of a show. There are three groups I have not missed when they have been near me: Dropkick Murphy's, Flogging Molly, and The Suicide Machines. All of them are amazing live!
If you haven't heard "Smash Sh*T Up" You'll have fun with it. It's about the fact that they're "on the straight and narrow now" but miss the days of being wild and crazy.
I grew up an irish kid in the Boston area, and loved the band. Got tickets to them on St. Patricks day 2020, then covid hit. Never saw the show and still out the $70, and im leaving for the Army in a few weeks. Fuck me i guess haha
I'm from the area. Maybe know a few musicians. One of the singers, AL Barr, was in another band, before this. The Bruisers. One of those guys, was in another great band, with 2 guys, from 2 other great bands, The Queers, and Scissorfight.. Called Iron Chin. After a song, by The Bruisers. I know a bit about New England music.
Seen the Murphy's live about a couple of dozen times. Mostly in Chicago and Boston. It's been a while, but used to catch the St Patrick's Day shows in Boston. The Irish triangle are 3 cities that have largest ethnically Irish populations. They are, NYC, Chicago and Boston. Boston, home of the Drop Kick Murphy's, is nearly 70% Irish. All 3 cities are known for big St Patrick's celebrations, but Boston goes beyond. All the government workers get the day off. The city celebrates for two weeks, what some refer to as Irish Xmas. Parades, the mayor roast, lots of music and yes drinking and debauchery. The play a series of sold out shows, appear in the parade and play randomly and sometimes anonymously. Front man Casey owns his own pub and after party events can sneak back there. The Murphy's do a lot of charity work in Boston and are kind of their unofficial ambassadors. I'm Ireland, Boston is refereed to as Ireland's most western city.
The Leader of the Largest Traditional Witchcraft Coven in the World has watched your reaction to this fun song by Dropkick Murphys. On the night before Hallows Eve. Congratulations to this cute couple!
