For anyone wondering, a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter, aka a Residual Current Device, is a device commonly found in electrical outlets that will quickly and automatically break a circuit when it detects that the electric current isn’t balanced between the supply and return conductors of a circuit. Any difference between the supply and return current, indicates that there has been leakage current, which is a hazard to someone using an appliance plugged into that outlet.
