Drowsy Maggie Playalong (Getting Faster) Sheet Music Version

Play along with the tune of Drowsy Maggie, which gradually increases until it arrives and a fairly quick tempo. Gradually stepping up the pace is a great way to increase your ability to perform at quick tempos. Try to remain relaxed throughout, even as the pace quickens, and do not be disheartened if you cannot make it to the end. It's a work in progress and you will get there. If you are able to, congratulations! Repeat with other tunes.

THIS IS SO USEFUL - Believe it or not, I am a gigging musician (union performer) and my sight reading is terrible. I learn almost all my tunes by ear. THIS is a PERFECT way for me to get the tricks of this tune down so I have a hope of bringing it on board for the band I am in (where I can fill in for our regular whistle player if they can't make a gig. Even if just a simple basic version.) THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Excellent! I try to learn this tune on a swiss instrument called "Schwyzerörgeli". You playing it very slow helps me to understand the melody.

Hi Richie, really happy you are enjoying this video. I’m putting my mind to creating some more in the upcoming weeks and wondered if you had any tunes you are really keen on learning at the moment? Or if you have any comments on improving the format. For instance I’ve been experimenting with ways to teach tunes by ear without music. I’m also thinking of setting up a Facebook group where likeminded members of the fiddle playing community can share tune ideas and resources - is this something you’d be interested in? Best wishes, Badger

measure 14 should be the same as measure 10

Yeah the music doesn’t always match up with the tune. It’s meant to be more of a guide than something followed to the letter because essentially these tunes are living things that should leave room for interpretation and variation
