I have HIGH POROSITY hair and with no product, it dries SUPER FAST but when I apply my products especially if they are very moisturizing, it takes FOREVER TO DRY! How about you?
Mell, idk if you’ve done this but for the end of the year you should do like a “curly hair product awards” thing where you have a bunch of categories and choose which product wins that category. Bonus if you have both a high end and a drugstore product win so the ones of us who are broke can get the drugstore one lol.
It's interesting. After 4 days the two sides look almost completely indistinguishable, which is surprising for the Noughty side which certainly looked fluffier on day 1. But the Giannini side looked better overall.
I’ve started brushing my hair through my gel, because I have a much looser curl pattern to it, it’s wavy curly. I’m getting really good results because my curl clumps fall out after I brush them with a styling brush. I find the gel helps it keep it shape from the styling brush, it makes it more stiff and defined
I would absolutely love to see you review the Aussie Curl line. I've been watching you guys for a while now and love seeing everything you put out! I love the character and honesty you have in all of your videos! I'm 15 and you've made me want to become a hair stylist because I love experimenting with my curly hair. I've been styling all of my curly and wavy haired friends bc of your videos! Keep it up, bc you're doing wonderful things.
@@indigojonas3633 How’s that been going? i’m trying to find the best brand. Testing our noughty brand for the next couple of months but still yet to find my favourite.. :(
@@WinterMSP It's pretty good, I don't have all the products in the line which was a dumb mistake on my part and I haven't been able to go to Target or Walmart to get the rest. I like thay they have three different moisture levels that I can mix and match with though. I want to get their gel and leave in conditioner and try the whole line, but I'm pretty happy with the results i get.
As a wavey/curly I've used the umberto products and I really think they were the best ones for my hair! I did use the shampoo and conditioner for a little while but stopped for some reason. However I have gone back to the Curl Jelly because it's the best gel I've found for my hair type. I was so excited to see you review them!
I personally would LOVE to see dupes *cough DYSON cough*. I personally love your reviews and opinions (I also like a slippy product that gives me a CAST) and have AG Curl Fresh in my cart and a dupe series would be lot's of fun (and give more accessible options to the budget-conscious) :)
MORE WINGED BLACK EYELINER PLEASE. And yes to product dupes. I've tried brushing through my gel but haven't noticed too much of a difference. I'm definitely going to try again though.
Would you ever consider doing one on one curl sessions? I find your videos so helpful but also so overwhelming with all the curl knowledge. I can’t even figure out what my hair density is so would be amazing if you would ever consider doing this. I live the UK and haven’t managed to find a hair specialist who can get my hair right and I certainly can’t 💛
Love these kinds of videos! I’ve been using a few Bumble and Bumble products that I love. Their gel is AMAZING for getting a cast that is somehow firm, but soft. No glycerine. And my hair loves the Invisible Oil Primer and the Curl butter. Totally worth the splurge.
"Mind ya business" 🤣🤣 I have coarse low porosity hair. Everything takes forever to dry, especially with product except the very top portion of my head and around my hairline. Those hairs are very fine and dry instantly. I'm loving those wings/your makeup towards the end of the video! 😍
Good to know the Noughty Shampoo/Condish work well as they are available where I live and I’d love to mix it up and try something new. At the moment I mostly use John Frieda dream curls and throw in the Shea moisture deep conditioner every few washes. I am hoping to see a wash and go routine for those of us who have to wear our hair pulled back at work all week.
I prefer definition over volume strictly for longevity. So I usually comb a small amount of gel through my hair while styling, and then I glaze/scrunch in some gel after I've styled to make sure I've got some good hold. This helps me get some crunch and my hair looks great all week.
This was such a fun live. I adore these videos, they’re informative, they’re fun, and this one was interactive! The first time I watched a Mell video I wondered if you had a drama background
Thanks for the video Mell. Pretty excited watching this review because we actually have this Umberto Giannini products back here 🇿🇦. Definitely going to give it a try Yayyy.
I found out one time when I was annoyed at the frizz so I brushed and scrunched after putting moose in and it turned out soooo nice!!! I thought that was a no no in styling but now you’ve done it 🤗
This was really helpful! Just got a bunch of naughty products in my bi-monthly curly subscription box. Although it wasn't right for you I think it might work for my wavy hair based on the outcomes on your hair. We shall see. Keep up the good work Mel - also you look stunning after you diffused in this video with your make up etc, beautiful lady xx
Finally, internationally available products. Yeah! I'm mostly here for your personality though. I love love love your hair but it's your personality for me. I just don't have the adjectives to describe it, yet. 😅
I haven't tried Umberto Gianninni...But I have tried the Noughty products. Ugh they smell amazing! They smell like the beach!🏝🤩I love that since I'm a mermaid🧜🏻♀️💙 Loved seeing your comp-HAIR-ison!!💙➿💙
I need to learn proper brush styling techniques. I've tried so many ways with just about every detangle brush yet I never get big,fat width, shiny clumps. I see so many CG using the brush style techniques for those big,fat width, shiny curls that stay big and fat width but mine always come out thin, spaghetti noodle width curls. I want big fat clumps too yall.
Try more water and more moisturizing products. I like creams, but ik that can weigh down a lot of hair types. Styling in the shower might help too. Also, the denman styling brush is a godsend for clumping
Your makeup looks so flattering and hair is fierce! I have high-po hair too and not only does it kick out water, it kicks out hair color too!! Suggestions???
I loooooove UG's Curl Jelly. I've just run out and was wondering if it was worth a repurchase (it's not drugstore where I live haha.) Glad to see it's a yes!
I have been applying a thick conditioner to my wet hair midshaft to ends before I shampoo my scalp. Then I rinse and use conditioner as usual. By applying the heavy conditioner to my ends it prevents the shampoo from stripping my ends while cleansing my greasy scalp. My hair is frizz free and my curls have never looked better
Can’t wait for this. I was allergic to Noughty & I’m hoping Umbeto Giannini is better. I was really impressed when Amanda tried it on Amazon Live. I bought it but haven’t tried it yet.
I started my curly hair journey about the time you started your marvelous channel. You have been my personal hair guru, and i have followed almost all your recommendations, within reason. I started with Aveda Be curly cream, confixor gel, the entire Verb line, in drugstore I like the Dippity do, especially the gel. Love the AG the gel mousse, but now I’m all about the AG defining cream you recommended last week. My daughters say my room looks like I’m the curly girl influencer! 😂 but hey if our mane girl Mel and seester say it works, then I’m there for it! You’ve changed my hair! Thanks.
Cake brand! And hask and sebastian and matrix; Curls, Mixed chicks, the mane choice plus Carol's Daughter🤔 thanks Mel for always sharing your awesome wisdom!!!
I haven’t used wave hello but i have used intensive hair from Naughty and have found myself love it (i switched from the two products i use and ended up coming back to them realising they gave me what i was after) My current routine is: Briogeo Volumising Shampoo Briogeo Frizz Smoothing Conditioner She’s Moistire Protein Mask (only use at most once a month or if my hair is in need of a boost) Noughty Intensive Care Leave In Conditioner As I Am Curling Jelly Noughty Anti Frizz Serum I like how this works for my hair. I had been using Maoui Moisture for a while but it honestly was too much and weighed down my hair loads
Your hair looks amazing, always does. I have used the UG jelly and the Noughty products but didn't like them but I might give them another try now. By the way, your beat is absolutely bangin'! LOVE the winged eyeliner and natural tones you've used. ❤️
Many times throughout the video you said, if your hair needs hydration this is good, or if your hair is damaged this helps. But how do you tell if your hair is dehydrated or damaged? What can be the different damage that your hair has gone through?
Mell! Your hair color here is everything! My hair is dark and I’m looking to change to something like this - what can I tell my stylist about the shade of your color? I’m thinking a warm caramel? Also, totally agree you look so amazingly beautiful at the end here!
This was so cool to see - I compared those gels side by side on my head too! I find that the Noughty jelly gives me crazy ringlets but NO cast! I wonder how they’d fare being layered on top of each other 🤔
Hey, Mell!! Have you ever heard about Latina products? It would be amazing if you try those, they are quite famous among curly women in Mexico (but idk if those are available there in Canada). Excellent video, as ALWAYS. Love your comp-hair-isons! Greetings from Mexico for you and Amanda!
Mexico has amazing products. Some that I would absolutely love to get my hands on. Sadly to be sold in Canada the products must have both English and French on labeling. Otherwise it can not be sold in store here. Though you can buy on Amazon for a high price tag.
@@rachellep2581 Ohhhh I didn't know that! Latina products are new on the market (around a year), hopefully, someday soon they get there (not only by amazon). Thanks for your answer!
Can you do a new video on refreshing? I cannot for the life of me refresh well. I use water. I get frizz. I use a tiny bit of product I look immediately greasy like I've used too much. Steam.. more frizz.. I will CRY
I would love to see dupes for Kerastase and Malibu C (clarifying and chelating).Would love to see a battle of the high-protein brands, maybe Curlsmiths strength line vs some of the way less pricey Aphogee products ( but probably not all from their curly line which is more moisturizing and emollient and less protein-y than some of their other products) Not gonna lie, love me some Aphogee, would love to know if other products are worth the $$$.
I've never brushed my gel through but I will definitely try it now! My hair is thin and fine, I could only dream.of hair like yours 😍 if you wanted to try a dupe theres a bond plex range by revolution (don't know how easy it is to get in canada) but it is supposed to be a dupe for the olaplex range xx
I think we should remember that if a conditioner is more runny it usually means there's more water in it, which means you're going to run through that bottle. I prefer a thick conditioner, i can always water it down.
Can you explain a little more about hard water and avoiding sulfates. I may have gotten it confused between sulfates, clarifying and chelating agents. I live in an area of hard water and use the chelating shampoo every few weeks (or when it feels like i need to), followed by a good deep condition. I know avoiding harsh sulfates is typically a good idea but I didn't know that hard water had anything to do with avoiding sulfates. 🤷♀️
I enjoyed this video so much. I don't brush my gel through my hair because my hair is so thin and by doing so I lack volume. I just gentle glaze my hair with a bit of lightweight gel.
Thanks Mell! Love your comparison videos. Speaking of Texture Tuesday, do you have advice on how to handle when you have different curl patterns/textures on your head? One side of my head is finer and the other is courser, frizzy, and some sections barely curl, even with finger coiling and other techniques 😫😭
Just found your channel and my hair is excellent like yours. I just purchased the new kerastase curl manifesto and I would love to see you doing one review or evaluation of the products. It is expensive but I had used kerastase in the past and seen to be very good products. Thank you!!!
@@ManesByMell thank you! No, It just arrived on Friday. I was about to purchase the deva curls and with all the issues reported I gave up and got back to Kerastase regardless the price. I was previously testing different curl hair products and have a hard time finding a good leave in or refresh for my curls!
Hi Mel! I love you so much! And I believe my hair texture is pretty much like yours. I’d like to know if you could do a video on hair twists, just because I like my curl to be a little looser after my hair is dry. Thank you so much 😊
