If I remember correctly the elf primer “scandal” was just someone that didn’t understand how that kind of pump work. It pushes the product up from the bottom so when she broke it open after she finished it, it looked like there was no space for product.
THIS!! It sucks how often there are misguided reviews for products.. so it's difficult to find actual feedback to make a better informed decision of any issues a product does have or could have via packaging, skin type, or doesn't pair well with another product and doesn't mix/work like it should. I read reviews like crazy before I buy anything.. even in stores.
Alisha21210 I know! I always want to ask a million questions about how they used something, how often, under what conditions do they store it... etc. I had one lady (I’m an ulta employee) come in so angry that a glycolic acid was causing her to break out. I apologized and started directing her to other treatments that might be more effect, she then off-handed mentioned how shes excited to find an acid that works great because she hates removing makeup. When I questioned further I found out she thought because “acid exfoliates” that she didn’t have to remove her makeup and the acid cleaned her face for her. She left a review for the product JUST mentioning her reaction with mentioning all this extra information.
The Elf Primer situation was sorted out. The person who first brought it up and declared the elf primer was a scam was discredited. She didn't understand the pump mechanism - Jen luvs Reviews did a video discrediting the original video. You are getting the amount of product stated on the bottle.
heidiu2scrap -heidiu2scrap - the @Beautynewsofficial girls did a fantastic video about the same time as Jen’s review also. I found it interesting because they took the whole bottle apart, explained how an airless pump works, & talked about all of the benefits of them! What was crazy is they actually tried measured out how many days she would get out of it & if she she used 1 full pump a day (she said she was using half of a pea!), she would get 57 days!! Almost 2 months in a TRAVEL SIZE using 1 pump every day; the lady said it should have last her a full year🤦🏼♀️🤣! Then, after Jen & the BN girls did their reviews, she STILL said they were being paid to say what they did...I do believe she gave up, but if you want to watch an informative yet funny video...just search Beauty News ELF Scam. Have a wonderful day lovelies 💜🦋🤗!!
I told women who complained about the little bit left in the bottles of makeup was just an extra amount so they could deliver the full amount that is stated on the bottle.
Reba Hensley - LOL, I am totally the same when it comes to basics I know I need daily (& also some things I don’t need daily but they are B1G1 & I know I’ll use it before it will go bad! I just can’t pass up a good BOGO, 🤣)!! 💜🦋
Jessica: ***twist bullet of lipstick all the way and begins applying*** Me: ***screaming at my screen*** “It’s going to break!!” 😳😳😳 Jessica: ***perfectly applies lipstick *****
I'm so glad it's not just me! I love binge-watching her declutters too, but seeing her roll the lipsticks up so high before swatching always has me on the edge of my seat lol
Ha! I feel that way about the way she applies mascara! It looks like she flings it around and gets it so close to her skin I am in awe of the fact that she doesn’t have black all over her face 😂
Omg what a throw back!! When you mentioned the great lash I died laughing. That mascara was awful but I remember every single girl in my high school class using that
@@Muslimah33 I still have it and use it as a base coat sometimes. I like for days that I want that super natural look. My lashes are very light so if I don't have something it looks like I have none.
It’s not fantastic but does a decent basic job lol. My teenage sister and her friends all still use it if you were curious. Kinda made my heart happy to hear 😂
@@sassyred4036 I love the one with the lots of lashes brush- it does not clump at all, and worka great as a base mascara- it seperates, lengthens, and makes really fluttery lashes. It really is great for that, even better than covergirl clump crusher!
Anyone else screenshot the description box so they have it when they’re in the store??? My favorite kinds of videos!!! This is such a pretty look with a lot of OG products!!!! Thx for the reminders !!!
Ok my Sephora box arrived today. I am so happy. There are so many products out there. You have really helped me to pick out some things I have fair skin like you. So your videos are perfect for me. Happiness is opening my computer and seeing a new video.
I can't tell you how much I appreciate that you create a lot of drugstore content. Thank you!!! I am 36 years old and I love makeup from my young age. Back then there was no RU-vid and no tutorials so I learned from magazines. I think 1,5-2 years ago I've started to watch RU-vid beatuy content. I learned a lot but recently I feel that somehow the whole thing went on a sideway... It became consumerism with a lot of beauty gurus promoting/using only highend products suggesting that it is the new norm... As much as I like the peronality of Allana Davison, Jemie Page -they don't use drugstore priced products. This is true for Ali Andrea and Katie Jane Hughs too but they are makeup artists so they teach a lot of techniques and tricks. Lately I've found myself watching them less and less. All I want to say is.. Thank you for using drugstore products!
When you did the Wet n Wild winner my heart jumped for joy! I remember owning the Walking on Eggshells trio and I literally took that frosty white and put it all over my lid and packed it on! I look at pictures and realize how early 2000s that look was. Thank you for this video Jess, this video was so much fun and was a trip down memory lane
The ELF "primer scandal" was one lady that didn't understand how an airless pump works. ELF wasn't in the wrong at all. This was such an enjoyable video.❣️
I was just catching up on older youtube videos, watched your previous video (the empties one) and was so stoked when I refreshed the YT homepage and saw you'd uploaded again! 💕 You're so relatable and I love how you constantly come out with new, interesting videos that always feel genuine and fun but also super informative! Also still waiting for the dry scalp shampoo tip, my husband really needs one like that 👀
YESSSS to the essence pure nude highlighter! It’s my all time favorite for a natural highlight! I bought it thanks to your recommendation when it was first released and I have since gotten soooooo many of my friends and family obsessed with it too!
Michelle is there a name on the back of it? I got one but I think mine says it's a 10 or something. Not sure if that is the lightest shade or not the one I have. Thanks! Sorry...
I sadly missed out on it. I live in Syria and even drugstore products are pretty expensive so I like to wait before buying. I decided to finally buy it and it sold out and was never restocked 😭😭
You look so beautiful with this colorway. Emerald, green, gold. Thank you for making green choices. I love how you said “we’re all on the same team” another way you could help the environment is having a vegan day 1 day a week. It will get you out of your comfort zone and eat lots of healthy, whole plant foods!
The ULTA matte eye primer has become my HG. I love how opaque it is; some days I use it alone, without shadow, just to cancel out the discoloration on my lids. Yes, it’s overpriced, but I never pay retail. There’s always some kind of BOGO or coupon going on. 😎
I love the covergirl 3n1 foundation. It also says that it is a concealer as well. I have found it to be the best concealer for my under eye. I am 62 and it does not settle into fine lines and I don’t even have to set it. I’ve tried other heavier foundations and they show texture on my face. 3n1 looks like skin. It’s amazing!
Hard Candy Sheer Envy Spray (hydrating) TOTALLY 100% gets rid of any powdery look/texture. It's my personal favorite drugstore setting spray. Especially in winter months.
I thought there was something wrong with my computer for a second when the dust from one of the products kicked up in front of the screen haha. Love your content Jessica!
This is the type of video all influencers should be concentrating on as equally as so ridiculously many of the new product releases. This is so good because it calls us out to use some products we may already have in our makeup drawers. In this video, I was reminded that I wanted to again try four things I have already and know I love: Maybelline Age-rewind Concealer, L A Girl Shady Slim Brow pencil, P. F. Butter Bronzer, and a major old fave, Essence Pure Nude Highlighter. I’m kinda excited to use these oldies but goodies once again. The thought of “New and Improved” isn’t necessarily always accurate. Great video, Jess! 💖
The colour pop brow pencils are my favourite literally both types! I have blonde hair and I find that blonde eyebrow pencils from most drugstore brands are to warm. I’m not sure if all colour pop brow pencils run more cool toned but that is why I love them!
I am loving this newer content! I love everything you put out but your more recent videos are going in a new direction and it's nice to see something new and fresh! Keep going girl, I'm living for it!
Luminoso blush has grown on me. I have oily skin so I usually stay away from anything with a sheen to it. But omg as a blush topper it is gorgeous. I use a matte blush first, then do just a light dusting of it on the apples of my cheeks and it is gorgeous. I'm so glad I own it.
Hey from Canada. Awesome video, I learned so much. I can actually follow this tutorial, so flawless and simple. Love and adore your soul. A forever fan, stay genuine.
It has been a hot minute since I tried a new shade of the butter gloss… I do not think I have that red color! After watching this, I dug through my make up to see if I still had Milani Luminoso!! Still have it!!! Can’t wait to wear it again… It’s been a while! Gorgeous look, as always!
I was listening to this video as I was doing my makeup and sooo many of these are the exact products in my makeup bag! It almost felt like we were doing our makeup together because as you mentioned a product it was what I had in my hand, made me smile lol
The Covergirl foundation is my holy grail! It has lasted me 15+ hours with sun exposure on a hot day plus sweat and still looked great at the end of the day! I have found recently that I prefer applying it with a brush instead of a beauty blender, which is a bit unusual for me. So many great products in this video! Congrats on your fall collection!
I never used the instructions on the wet and wild pallets. It never worked for my eye shape, which is deep set. I really need to try some of the new wet and wild shadow quads! Everyone seems to love them. Can't beat the price. Love this kind of content!
Maybelline age rewind concealer, Milani luminoso, Essence highlighter, and Catrice dewy setting spray are all HG products I use almost every time I wear makeup. I'm 42, and they work so well with my aging skin and my skintone.
First, you look gorgeous. Second, I've had my Luminoso for 4 or 5 yrs and it looks just like your new one does. It's always had that beautiful soft glow without chunky shimmer or glitter. Just wanted to let you know that as far as i know it's always been the same as its is now . 😊
I really appreciate that you always mention fragrance. I bought the dewy glow because Taylor raves about it but I can't use it due to chemical sensitivities. It's also pretty expensive per ounce. More than most high end!
Me too! I’m really sensitive to fragrances and scents. I finally got my hands on a bottle of the Catrice Dewy spray, got a whiff, and it never touched my face.
I bought the Pure Nude on your recommendation and I love it. Although, it is a little dark for me, I was surprised the first time I used it. I am lighter than you and it's more of light bronzer/ highlighter on my skin but if I blend it, it sheers out. I do love that it's a natural highlighter.
ElizabethTheMillennial - good idea. This video made me pull out 4 things she mentioned that I already have & know I loved. Eyeshadow palettes would be the same, I’m guessing.
Love your new collection! Hoping you might do a v-neck shirt in your next collection as crew necks can rub against my scar from my surgery removing my thyroid because of the cancer cells 😢. Definitely looking forward to seeing what you come up with next. 🤩
You look so beautiful in bold colors! The second you put on that red lipstick. I was like, "wow!!!". Also, that green shirt matches your red lips perfectly.
Agreed! The PF light bronzer is a totally different tone than the regular bronzer shade. I’m pale AF and still use the Bronzer shade, and it work great!!
L’Oréal voluminous really has been it forever, it has a super middle ground brush... and it looked so good on you! So fluffy! And the primer, Love it with the primer
I used Maybelline’s Great Lash for years and loved it! I only switched because I got bored, but I think about going back. I would get regular compliments on my lashes with Great Lash and I haven’t gotten any since, even with Monsieur Big!
The Milani blushes are BOMB! I don’t really use Luminoso, i think their shade Belissimo Bronze is a bit better peachy shade for deeper skin. These are the reasons I rarely use highlighters 🥰❤️
Hey Jessica! If you do an Elf brush video, I LOVE using my Elf Highlighting brush to lightly set my face with the Charlotte Tilbury powder. It’s kind of fluffy and pointed and does the job perfectly!
That blush looked gorgeous on you (well everything did 😊) but I think I need to pull that out of my drawer and start using it again! I am going on vacation soon and think I will definitely throw in some super shock shadows after this video. I am looking at maybe taking my husband to Universal studios in FL if you have any suggestions I’d love to hear them. Love your videos!
Milani had some quads years ago that were so the bomb! Gone now....all my luck!I loved Jordana glosses! Butter bronzer is fantastic, but the scent kills me. I just bought another the other day, though. Revlon Cherries in the snow is amazing!
I want to try that foundation again now! I threw out my blue ones because they were old, I feel like the liquidy consistency would make me like it even more now
Great video thanks it’s nice to know what are the best from each brand. Loving your videos lately you are putting a lot of work into them and it shows.
Loreal voluminous smudges on me terribly. I love elf hydrating primer, it is as if I put an oil on my face, great for dry skin. Try it if you can. I never tried Physicians Formula bronzer, as people say it smells too much. Nyx butter glosses are the best, age rewind, wet n wild shadows I love them all! Great recommendations ! Also, have you tried Note BB cream (try no 501), oh my god, it is soooo good. I am sure you are gonna love it. So affordable, looks so good on the skin, more coverage than your average bb creams. Never heard anyone talk about this BB cream, I am sure you are gonna fall in love with it as I know you love Missha bb cream!
the elf primer controversy was always very dumb. someone opened up their elf primer and then didnt understand what an airless pump was and wildly misunderstood what they were seeing.
Love these videos. So fun. Have you tried L’Oréal’s Voluminous Mascara in Burgundy? Really nice! I still use a lot of these, and miss some as well. I just actually ordered the Wet n Wild “walking on eggshells”, lol. I totally forgot about how much I liked it. Thanks, girlie🍃🌸
Jessica...You look stunning!! The Wet N Wild "walking on eggshells" is one of my favorites, also!! Great look!! PS..I am very fair and I always go for a more natural and neutral eye color as well!!!! Congrats on your fall collection!! xo Gina from Idaho
Yay, Colourpop Frog and Ritz are my two favorite super shock shadows! And Revlon super lustrous lipsticks even though old fashioned, I have to agree with you, are very pigmented and moisturizing, I have several faves: Certainly Red, Love that red, Toast of New York and Raisin Rage, I reach for them a lot! Really enjoyed this video, thanks!
Did they ever change the scent of the Revlon lipsticks? I used to love some of their shades & like the formula, but I DESPISED the scent. I could taste it all day, it was so strong & never faded...
Hi Jessica ! Thought I’d pass onto you another drugstore brow product I keep buying over & over.... elf brow pencil ... in a white casing .. I use Taupe.. it’s so easy to fill in & a brush on the end. Easier than anything I’ve ever used .. 3 bucks & im on my 3rd one. 👍🏻
I used to love the Great Lash mascara from Maybelline. I loved how deep the color was and how it wasn’t clumpy. The Loreal voluminous mascara wasn’t bad but I also did have to wait for it to dry a bit in order to build volume although it can get a bit clumpy.
