Hi Friends,
In this video I show you how I do my makeup while being on chemotherapy and having lost all of the hair on my head and face.
I hope you enjoy this video and share it so that we can bring awareness to how sneaky and silent cancer can be and how important it is for us to advocate for ourselves to be screened (even if we are not of recommended age yet).
I love you all and I appreciate your outpouring love and support on my journey. You are amazing and I am so grateful for you!
If you are sharing my RU-vid channel & videos THANK YOU because my goal is to spread awareness and help others through my journey as much as I can. Cancer is scary and when I found out that I had stage 2 breast cancer, the first thing I did was go on RU-vid and search what to expect & what am I going to look like on chemo, how am I even going to survive this treatment plan, etc…so I truly hope that my journey helps someone who feels scared, lost, or has “fear of the unknown”, whatever they’re looking for to find inner peace, I hope they can find it through me and my journey. We are all in this together, we are family, we are fighters and we will WIN this battle together. 🙏🏻💕😊
Love You All,
Bri

Hi Bri, I have had breast cancer twice, once in 2016 and again last year. The first time it was lobular tumor and the second time it was the same as you have but on the right side. It was tough on me, I’m a lot older than you and the first time my body could not handle Chemo, first they tried the Red Devil and after only three treatments I ended up in the hospital with breathing issues. After that they put me on the lower strength dose and again I ended up in the hospital again. After that my oncologist said no more Chemo, I’m afraid it will kill you. I did have seven weeks of radiation but about six months later I started have really bad shortness of breath. My husband wanted to take me to the ER but I kept putting it off. When it got really bad I finally went to the ER and they admitted right away. This was also during the pandemic so my husband could not come in with me. I had lots of doctors ordering lots of tests including a Cardiologist. He ran an Echo and about two hours later he came into my room and said “you have a very week heart” which really scared me. He ran some more tests and because the radiation was on the left side he concluded that the radiation damaged my heart. I also had three blocked arteries and had to have stints put in. The day of the procedure they did let my husband come to see me before and after the procedure. I was soo scared about my heart condition, which was low injection fraction. It how the left ventricle pumps the blood, mine was 20 to 25, normal is 50 to 75. I was in the hospital for nine days and was put on five heart medications and could not leave without a Life Vest. The life vest was very uncomfortable and hot and I had to wear it for six months and could only take it off when I showered. It had an alarm sensor if something bad was going on with my heart. There were about six sensors attached to me and twice in the middle of the night one came loose and scared the crap out of us. Maybe I should stop hear, getting very tired. Will post again about my second cancer. Bri I just want to say that you are a kind and beautiful person and such an inspiration. I just love your videos, you make me smile. So glad you are almost done with Chemo and can move on too the surgery. Love you girl!❤❤🙏🏻🎗

Bri, you're beautiful! Thank you for posting this how to video. Since my cancer diagnosis is same as yours, just three months behind you, it's so nice to know what to expect and how to try and overcome some of the challenges. I haven't started treatment yet, they just ordered a second biopsy, this one being mri guided due to suspicious non-mass cluster - just about destroyed me today to hear that since I'm eager to start treatment. You are amazing. Thank you for helping me outta my funk today.
@AFaeriesCancerJourney
@AFaeriesCancerJourney 8 месяцев назад
Hi!! I’m glad I was able to help get you out of your funk 😊 While it can be frustrating to have to delay treatment, it’s good that they’re doing a second biopsy to be sure exactly which type of tumor or cancer they’re going to be treating (that way it’s treated aggressively if need be and has a better, more positive response rate). Either way I know that you’re going to do great. Just take things one day at a time and give yourself grace. Rest when your body tells you it needs it and most importantly - HYDRATE! That helped me so much (the day before, the day of and the day after infusion). I’m here if you ever need to talk, vent or want advice/tips. I’m praying for you for minimal to no side effects on chemo. You’ve got this! 😊💕🙏🏻💪🏻

Hi!! I can totally relate to the fear you’re feeling about starting chemo. I was crying (literally) at the thought of it all and it was just so overwhelming. Everything coming at me at once. A cancer diagnosis, a chemo treatment plan, surgery options, radiation treatment plan, hormone therapy…it’s a long journey!! And a lot to take in at first. But just try to focus on TODAY. Try not to worry (too much) about future treatments. Just focus on the first one and get through that one day at a time. Also, rest when your body tells you it needs it. And most importantly HYDRATE. I cannot stress that enough (the day before, the day of & the day after). It helps your body bounce back much quicker and flush out the excess chemo in your system. I will be praying for you and rooting for you! You’re going to do great, I just know it 😊🙏🏻💕 I’m here for you if you need to talk, vent, ask for tips/advice etc. You’ve got this! You are not alone! 💪🏻🩷

If there is a natural doctor in your area look at doing i.v. vitamin c with your chemo. Buffers side effects and makes it more effective too.

I was so happy to find your channel ! I have a similar diagnosis as you but am at the other end of the age spectrum. It was interesting to me to hear your perspective. I find makeup the only thing that I can change about my body as the rest of it belongs to science at the moment. I did Taxol first of 10 rounds and now am on AC for 4 more, every other week. I held on to six eyelashes on each eye until the first Red Devil treatment. I was a makeup artist in a very early life so I love "painting" on my new face. I had great grey hair and bought two wigs but I find I never wear them. Thanks for sharing your perspective and beautiful spirit. A few hints for you especially in the winter (don't know what part of the country you live in - I am in Texas). A use Avene mineral spray many times a day even when I'm not wearing makeup. My skin has become so dry from chemo and normally it's wonderful (see thumbnail photo). This hydrating spray really helps. Sending blessings to you and I will not go and watch some more of your videos. We have to support each other!! Blessings and prayers for your perfect recovery!!!!!!! 💜💜💜💜

Aww thank you!! 😍💕 Yea I completely agree plus it’s just easier to use your fingers instead. You don’t have to clean brushes and wait for them to dry in order to use them again and worry about them holding bacteria (or mold!?!) from the makeup/soap/dampness sitting on them til they fully dry etc. Plus it’s just not convenient lol! Fingers are much easier & quicker! Haha Thank you for your love and support I appreciate it so much!! Hope you’re having a lovely day & evening! 😊💕🙏🏻

Seven surgeries in one year but luckily, I met my deductible by the 3rd one. Finished the chemo but couldn't get my arm up high enough for radiation, due to the lymph node removal. Lots of physical therapy and a frozen shoulder surgery just to get the radiation. Finished that at the end of October and now I'm still begging my hair to grow. I was laughing with you with the nose situation. It happened to me a lot. I love your videos!! Keep shining!!!!!!!!@@AFaeriesCancerJourney

What a gift to have you share your story!! You’re helping us all feel less alone😊I watched your diagnosis/treatment video, but missed the part of understanding how they decided you needed chemotherapy. Wax it number of tumors, size of tumors, lymph node involvement, your age or a combo of those? Did they do Oncotype test on you? As always, thanks for sharing!
@AFaeriesCancerJourney
@AFaeriesCancerJourney 8 месяцев назад
Hi!! Aww thank you! 🥰 I’m honestly not 100% sure. I believe it was a combination of the type of cancer that I have (ERPR Positive, HER2 Negative) and the staging of it (I’m stage 2). I know if I was HER2 positive it’s a more aggressive cancer. So they usually recommend surgery first to get most of it out and then they treat with chemo to “clean up” the rest of the microscopic pieces that might be left after surgery. I never received an oncotype score. They may do that after my surgery so they can take the actual breast tissue and lymph nodes to the lab for a deeper look at what’s actually left/there? How are you feeling on your journey? 💕
@LindaLopez-i3r
@LindaLopez-i3r 8 месяцев назад
I’m doing well - thanks! Diagnosed at 62 in Aug 22 from a screening mammogram. No lump or symptoms. IDC with DCIS, ER and PR positive, HER 2 negative. First was surgery, then radiation, been on Anastrazole for 1 year, 3 months (very few symptoms so extra lucky!) Pathology from surgery put me at Stage 2, initial biopsy was Stage 1. My tumor had very low ki67 (3%) so slow growing. One positive lymph node at surgery got me the ticket to radiation 😊. Oncotype score was low enough to skip chemo. Ditto on HER 2 being negative. Never thought I’d understand all these terms, but this is a real education experience, right? Extraordinary, special people to meet on this journey - grateful to follow your story! Best, best continued wishes!

@AFaeriesCancerJourney 8 месяцев назад
Hi!! I can totally understand why you feel that way. It’s almost as if you’re watching everything that makes you YOU, melt away slowly and yes it can be very upsetting. But just know, that you are still beautifully, perfectly you! Nothing will ever change that. You are awesome and this journey sucks sometimes but the good thing is it is simultaneously saving your life. Just try to hang in there and remember to focus on today. I’m here for you if you need to talk/vent/laugh/be frustrated. Etc. You’re not alone 😊💕 Oh! And I use Dove baby tip to toe wash/shampoo lol. I know it sounds silly but my theory is - if it’s gentle enough for a newborn baby’s bald head, it’s gentle enough for my sensitive bald head and thinning skin from chemotherapy. And it’s a gentle moisturizer too! It totally works and I highly recommend it 💕 I hope this helps you! Stay strong - you’re a warrior 💪🏻🩷
