This is a realtime breakdown of Rich Redmond's 2017 touring rig with Jason Aldean. There is some commentary for what is going on, but the audio is available so you can hear my interactions with the stagehands as they are instructed to help pack up the drumset.

So many times I've been a stage hand and had to deal with arrogant arsehole drum techs, nice to see you're one of the nice guys! You showed respect to the stage hands and made them feel comfortable, great communication as well! Props to you dude! 🤘🏼

I love this interaction as i have a few friends that work for a backline and local stagehands and theyve told me how many times drum techs are jerks as a way to protect the drum kit they set up and break down. Its quite sad really...

One thing that really stood out was how nice you were to those women. You were patient with them and treated them respectfully. That says a lot about your character. My buddy did pyro and he was the licensed guy when Rush came to town. I went with him and watched with amazement how fast they broke down everything and loaded out. There was zero waiting for someone to get done. It was so beautifully choreographed. Just like in this video. You hurry because you know your carpenter is coming to remove that riser. Great video. PS: I'm a drummer and have done what you did a million times, not as a tech, but as a drummer who couldn't afford a drum tech .

I was a drum tech on my younger years. My uncle had a band and the drummer hired me as his drum tech. We played smaller.venues like the aragon ballroom in Chicago or the house of blues, etc. Miss them days out on the road on the tour bus. I was left behind once somewhere in Texas. I had to call 911 to stop them. LOL Everyone was laughing for days including myself.

Signs of a true professional, organized, kind/courteous, good communication skills, fast and efficient. I worked for 8 years at medium size arena and amphitheater as catering and Kraft services, would also help load outs sometimes for large shows if local stage crew needed extra help. I miss it very much, unfortunately I Had to stop due to physical injuries w/ my feet and now need cane to walk .

If you saved the two sticks to give to the ladies helping... Very nice gesture! :) all the best.

I would really love to know what those cymbal sleeve/wingnut alternatives are and the high hat clutch. They look super quick and way better than the typical quick release wing nuts that seem to always come up when I search. Really cool video, I also like the snare drum tuning one as well, it's a better representation of real world practice compared to a lot of the others out there. You should definitely make some more when you get the time.

What is he using on the cymbal stands? I see you pull them straight off without any wing nut action lol I have the Aquariun springs but I still have to unscrew those
@TotalEvo7
@TotalEvo7 3 года назад
On those cymbals specifically, he uses Cymbolt fasteners, that allows him to mount and dismount cymbals quickly and efficiently, without unscrewing the cymbals.

Hi Jon: I worked the show Jason did with Lynyrd Skynyrd in Jacksonville, Fl. I posted this video on my facebook page and it appears that the riser is shaking, but I believe that's an optical illusion. Isn't it the camera mount on the drum rack that is shaking? I told someone that commented on the video that safety is everything, and performers, techs and local crew would NOT be walking on or stepping off of a wobbly platform that wasn't cross braced.

all venues end last truck 1 am depending on number of trucks and sleeper coaches it varies get a good crew with locals and you may set records getting out earlier.
